Re: Heath Bell: ESPN Bias
Actually that's where you're wrong and the ratings, advertising and programming proves it. Do you really think ESPN would continue their baseball coverage as is if it wasn't profitable for the network? You think they'd be better off showing three minute Padre/D'Back highlights? Sure baseball purists and small market crybabies whine about how it is now but ESPN is better off doing it this way. I liked the old ESPN coverage with balance throughout the league but I can't be pissed at ESPN from a business perspective.
Just cause more people agree with Heath doesn't make him right. What he said was true, but you can't argue with why ESPN does it.

Re: Heath Bell: ESPN Bias
If I had access to MLB Network i'd be watching it from sun up to sun down (well except when the Jays are playing) but you get my point. Also they don't edit the classic games!
A network that covers the entire league without the bias that ESPN has is so refreshing and worthwhile that it should've been done long ago.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

And all the knocks about me being a Yankee fan, lol, very smart on your part. I haven't watched Baseball Tonight since the YES Network launched so why would I care? No Yankee fan watches ESPN/BT anyway, YES provides much better coverage. Makes no difference to us."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

I think much like with the NFL with NFL Network, you'll start to see that change as MLB network gains traction.
You think people out here give a crap about the Yankees or Red Sox?Comment

Re: Heath Bell: ESPN Bias
Whether you watch it or not, because you are a Yankee fan, and for some reason have that sense of superiority, you find it logical that club would get as much coverage as they do nationally.Comment

Re: Heath Bell: ESPN Bias
Those deals ESPN has with the pro leagues will continue to shrink and dwindle, it wouldn't surprise me if one day there are no live highlight shows on ESPN for MLB/NBA/NFL."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Heath Bell: ESPN Bias
LOL, it has nothing to do with being a Yankee fan! You think I care that the Cowboys or Lakers get the most national attention in football and basketball? They have the biggest fan bases so why shouldn't they get the most coverage?"You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

ESPN would likely partner up with one of the leagues if it ever came to that. There's been talk off and on the last year or so that ESPN would partner with NFL-N.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

The pro leagues would essentially be the wholesaler and ESPN would be the retailer, which to a certain extent is how it's already set up."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Heath Bell: ESPN Bias
Well NO ****! ESPN is one of a kind! There is no common detonator! Jesus, is it that hard to see?
What other 24/7 sports network is dedicated to MULTIPLE sports? What are you comparing ESPN to? CBS/ABC/NBC? Not a 24 hour sports network and don't have national nightly highlight shows.
MLB/NBA/NFL Networks are only focused on their sport. There is nothing to compare it to when you say "they get the most coverage only on ESPN". There's no reason for MLB Network to be Yankee-heavy when they have all day every day to cover baseball! They aren't working with lmited time and resources like ESPN.
I'm sorry it's an 'out of the box' point of view for you and you're only retort is to say "You're a Yankee fan" when it's completely irrelevant to the situation."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
