Real easy to throw at someone's head when you never have to step up to the plate.

This is true. Beckett's like a petulant child. He's the kind of guy that gets extremely upset at the slightest things and will always claim someone is breaking vague unwritten rules that only he knows. He frequently kvetches about minor things like tame HR trots or how a guy flips a bat when drawing a walk.

It's really hard to stop your motion and not risk injury. To me, a right handed pitcher seeing timeout late in his motion is going to pull the ball inside to complete the throw while also attempting to stop.

That's what I saw there. I saw Beckett already set up to throw inside, only to see timeout too late and tell himself to finish and not hurt himself. That will throw your accuracy off big time.

So, no, I don't fault Beckett for the tight pitch. I also don't fault Abreu for being upset. All he sees is a fastball near his noggin. He's gonna be upset. That's justified.

I do fault Beckett for making a scene afterwards. He didn't have to walk to the plate. He should have just gone back to the mound and let it be. Abreu was jawing for a minute but he was mostly talking to the catcher and ump and just pointing at Beckett.

Beckett got the benches up by moving in. Suspension deserved.
        Couldn't have said it better.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I was at the game with my wife, three rows back from the Angels dugout. I have to say it was pretty exciting and yes Beckett did make the issue much worse. The guy I couldn't figure out was Speier. He was lacing an F bomb tirade at Beckett from the dugout. He was acting like he got thrown at. Pretty funny.
