Kredit the HOF would be pretty small if only guys of Bonds and Arod's caliber made it.

Thats true, but think about it, what is the main purpose of the HOF? For the absolute BEST players in the game of baseball to be honored..

Yeah, it is for the "best"... but you don't wanna make the bar that high... but based on the previous logic mentioned earlier, A-Rod shouldn't make it first ballot because he hasn't won an MVP award. That's assinine...

But you can't honestly expect EVERYONE that enters the hall to have Bonds numbers... there's other attributes and contributions players give to the sport, that's not really confined to numbers. Look at Bill Mazeroski

Maybe the word were looking for is greatest? Since HOF is a career award. Whoever had a great carrer in MLB is in.

Absolute Best in my view encompasses more players than the standard set by AROD and Bonds. It would include guys like Palmeiro, Sandberg, Ron Santo, Jim Rice and maybe even Steve Garvey, sure as hell would have included Gary Carter a lot sooner.

Most definitely. The guy has put up the numbers, solid defensively, and comes to play every day.

Didn't Kevin Mitchell win an MVP award? I don't think he'll be seeing the hall anytime soon...
