This would've been a huge win for us to really get some momentum going in to the break, but...

Wow, Reed Johnson made a great stumbling effort on that Rasmus slicer to left field. Though the replay proved it was a trap, he convinced the umpires and television audiences that it landed safely in his glove and got the Cubs out of that inning that started with the bases loaded and nobody out.

Piniella made an even bolder move earlier in the inning getting a righty to throw against Ryan and sticking his lefty in the outfield for an at bat, then putting him back in the game after the strikeout.

Was at the Phi/Pitt game Sunday to complete the sweep. It wasa beautiful day for baseball...Pedro Feliz hit a grand slam in the first inning and that was all Philly would need to win it 5-2.

JA Happ looked impressive, and extended his record to 6-0. He's a very good young pitcher, would hate to see him go, but if it means netting Halladay I guess I can't complain.

Toronto would have a good young lefty though.

The defensive statistics - I still really don't understand how some of those statistics are evaluated, I really don't. When you watch baseball games every single day, its very apparent who can play defensively and who can't.
-Dayton Moore, this morning on local KC radio

I don't know which part of this quote makes me cry the most.

If it's so apparent who can play defense and who can't, then why in the world does THE ROYALS DEFENSE SUCK?

I've been one of those people who's stayed on his side through all the crap trades this off-season, and up until last week I was still willing to give him more time. Now, between the Betancourt trade and this comment, I want him gone now.

As an M's fan, after that trade I kind of have a sweet spot for Dayton Moore.

If the Royals can get Yuni to dedicate himself and lose 20lbs, they'll have the phenom glove everyone was so in love with during his rookie season. Of course Yuni worked out with Raul Ibanez this past off-season, who is one of the hardest working players in baseball, and didn't gain any muscle or lose any of his chubbs. And this was Yuni's response after he was benched this season for not listening to coaches who were trying to change his routine
"I've been doing the same routine for years," Betancourt said. "I can't control the lineup. I'm doing whatever I've done in the past."
                      I wouldn't expect miracles.

Wow, that's an epic failure of a quote. If I were a Royals fan I would have zero confidence in Dayton's ability to field a quality major league team, especially given their payroll constraints.

Well, Dayton's strengths lie in the scouting/amateur side. Now that he's the man in charge his weaknesses are becoming horribly obvious.

I see nearly every Mariners game every year and the defensive stats definitely aren't lying. Yuni looked like he had dazzling potential when he first came up but has regressed significantly over the past couple of years and his range now is crap. He'll make the occasional dazzling play that shows up on Sportscenter (which is probably what Moore is seeing) but more often he makes errors on easy plays due to lack of focus. Like Coug00 said, he's shown no sign of "getting it" or wanting to change. A true underachiever.

                              Pretty much.

12 or so hours after I first read that quote and I still feel like jumping off a bridge. Hopefully sleeping tonight will help things out a bit.
