    Roy Halladay on the block?

According to a couple media outlets JP Ricciardi has said that the Jays are willing to listen to offers for Roy Halladay. They're not actively seeking out a trade but it seems they're looking at all avenues.

I don't know what this means to be honest. I get the sense that Halladay is a lifer and will want to stay with the team that brought him to the Bigs but then there's the whole notion of him just leaving the team without them getting anything in return.

Nonetheless I fully expect the Jays to throw 3 brinks trucks worth of money to Roy regardless.

He'd be dumb not to listen to offers....problem is they aren't going to get value for him.

I'll agree the Jays will be throwing tons of cake at him. If I'm Halladay maybe i sign a 3 year deal with an out clause. This guy deserves a shot in the post season but if I see him in a Yanks or Redsox jersey Id puke.

It's instinct for GMs to listen to offers on all players but there's a slim to no chance probability he's going anywhere.

Translation: We're willing to deal Roy Halladay in exchange for 3 or 4 of the game's best young players.

He's not going anywhere, though if the Jays think there won't be a World Series contender in Toronto in the next two years it wouldn't be a bad idea to look into dealing him to an NL team. His stock isn't going to get any higher.

Colletti, do the damn thing, and get Halladay here in LA.

I don't think LA has the payroll flexibility to take on his contract. Toronto would have to float some money in exchange (doubtful) or a third team would have to be brought in. I don't see it happening. The list of teams that can take on a player still owed over 7 million this year and nearly 16 next year is small, made even more so by the fact that two of those teams (Yankees and Red Sox) play in the AL East and Toronto would not deal Halladay to a divisional foe.

The reason I don't see LA even having a chance. As of right now, the Dodgers are paying Jason Schmidt $16 mill to rehab. They are also still paying Andrew Jones, Nomar and Penny I believe. Thanks to Ned and his horrible early signings we won't be able to do make this move and many other moves.

Frank McCourt does not seem to care about payroll flexibility since he was paying those contracts and still managed to overpay for Manny Ramirez.

Schmidt comes off the books after this season. Penny and Nomar are already off the books, but they will be paying Jones for a while.

The Dodgers could make an offer but it's unlikely that they will be willing to part with Billingsly/Kershaw/McDonald as well as 2-3 other prospects or young players off the ML roster like Matt Kemp or Russel Martin or James Loney.

I'd be more than happy to part ways with McDonald, Lambo, and perhaps Pierre for a guy like Halladay. Also, saying that McCourt doesn't seem to care about the payroll is a lie. Yeah, he might have overpaid Manny but he knew we needed him to continue what we started last year. Another thing, I think we owe Nomar money next year too...could be wrong though.

I don't think Toronto wants an overpaid singles hitter like Pierre in exchange for Roy Halladay.

The Dodgers reportedly weren't interested in Pedro Martinez due to financials and had to haggle over deferred money with Manny in order to sign him and needed Boston to pay for him in '08. McCourt very much cares about money.

According to Ken Rosenthal the Jays are looking to swing a deal similar to the Bartolo Colon deal of 2002 where the Indians got some great talent in return.

The Jays are not going to settle for somebody else's crap.

I really hope Halladay gets a chance to pitch in the postseason. He's been my favorite pitcher aside from Kerry Wood (I'm a Cubs fan) for a long time

Only way he goes is for Tommy Hanson, Jason Heyward, and Jair Jurgens. Or Matt Kemp, Andrew Lambo, Andre Eithier, and John McDonald.

The Nats could have Grady Sizemore, Brandon Phillips and Cliff Lee all on the current roster along with Zimmerman and Dunn.
