Being an A's season ticket holder, I would like them to employ this strategy as well... lol. But besides Pittsburgh and Cleveland, all those other teams have old, decrepit, or just plain terrible stadiums.

I don't think the Rogers Centre is any of those things. Tropicana Field on the other hand completely fits that bill (well, maybe not old). The funny thing is Florida and Tampa Bay are in pennent races, the Rays were in the World Series last year and they still can't draw attendance unless they are serving as home-away-from-home for Yankees and Red Sox fans.

It's too bad that this franchise be it Expos or Nationals has never come close to duplicating the magic that was ended by the 1994 strike. Basically 1992-94 was about the only time to enjoy being a fan of this team.

        It could work!
Can I just be named GM instead? I can't be worse than Bowden. There's no possible way.

It's not, but this is a park that is less than 2 seasons old that has a fan base of southern MD, northern VA and DC to draw from. All areas that have lots of affluence and money yet they can't get them to the ballpark.

I'd rather be dragged across carpet tacks and dipped in rubbing alcohol than watch a Nats game. Are you kiddin' me? Baseball teams comprised of 12 corner outfielders, and 13 short relievers are not entertainin

Yeah, Angelos screwing the team over in television and radio has nothing to do with their lower viewer/listener totals. It all has to do with the 1960's. Come on.

Yeah, come to think about it. I have never heard a Nats game on the radio. Angelos did demand a kings ransom from MLB in TV deals. raidio and all other media he could before he gave up his fight about having a team so close. The O's fan in me says good. About time he did something to help the O's but the realist in me also know that it's not like he is going to take all that extra revenue and help improve the team. Although he did resign Markakis, and will do the same for Jones in a year or 2.

Ewing is right. Peter did a lot to hurt the Nats before they even got here.

Can you blame Angelos? He was protecting his product because MLB was trying to put a team that infringed on the Orioles territorial rights. I think all of us would do the same thing if we were in his position. Blame MLB for having a BS regional territory right for every MLB team that allowed Angelos to demand a King's ransom. The sooner they get rid of the territorial rights, the better (and they're working on getting rid of it, but there's a lot of red tape to jump through).

Bingo. Angelos may be a douche, but the MLB ****ed the whole Expos situation over long before he became involved. One horrible decision after another, now they're reaping what they sowed.

Oh without question MLB screwed the whole thing up, however, Angelos plays a factor in the radio and television situation.

                              Except they're not.

The Nats were one of, if not the most profitable team in all of the MLB last year.

The owners are making money hand over fist... they're just not interested in investing it back on the team.

To clear up the Toronto thing, the attendance numbers are not THAT bad. The last few years the Jays did some funny business with their numbers by giving away a lot of trips and other crazy promotions. Paul Beeston decided to do away with that extra expense and just sell the tickets alone.

If anything, overall revenue for the team will go up at the end of the year.
