Pitchers are idiots. It's the fact that catchers don't hit better is what suprises me. If any position knows what the next pitch is it's the catcher, not the pitcher.

no player on the field is affected more, both physically and mentally, on defense than the catcher. By the late innings they lose a split second or so on their swing and that is all it takes to struggle against major league pitching. Just look at how poorly Giambi is hitting this season with a sore knee. Catchers play with that sort of pain daily.

Which is exactly why Biggio was moved to second, there is talk about Piazza moving to first, and Kendall was tried out in left field (ugh!).

Kendall is a prime example of how a catcher should be at the plate. He doesn't hit for power, but he hardly ever strikes out because he knows the strike zone so well.

If Pitchers are the best hitters in High School it's probabily because they are not facing Big League Pitchers who throw from 80-100 Miles Per Hour.

Why does everybody think pitchers are idiots? I've heard people say this idiots before. Many of the best pitchers are actually very smart people. Where did people get this idea? There are some stupid pitchers, but there are a lot of stupid position players too.

Some people get this from the Cubs pitching staff who have committed more errors then some baseball teams put together.
