Re: Canseco claims a hall of famer juiced

They were made illegal in 1991, but without testing or enforcement making it a pretty empty rule. If the speed limit is 30 mph, but if police are not going to pull you over for speeding how many people are actually going to travel at 30 mph?

There are a lot of people in the Hall of Fame. Unless Canseco wants to provide a name and some evidence I don't this his claim is anymore relevant than the musings of the general public. He's just been slinging **** against the wall for years and some of it sticks so the media runs to him whenever someone is outed, to which he always claims "I knew all along!" Sure you did, Jose.

Re: Canseco claims a hall of famer juiced

Based on Canseco's history of naming players he played with, and the timing of the recent inductees, it's got to be Rickey Henderson.

Not very tough to believe for sure.

I wonder about Nolan Ryan in this regard. He's trying to buy the Rangers right now from financially-troubled Tom Hicks. If Ryan did use the juice, how strange would it be to have an OWNER of a major leage team that used steroids?

Not saying he did though. Steroids won't give you a rubber arm, which Nolan had.

Wow, imagine if it is Nolan Ryan. I didn't even think about him. He was able to pitch for a looooong time.

LOL at people doubting Canseco. He has been the ONLY one who has told the truth about all this ****. Who cares if he is a scumbag, he is a truthful scumbug and that is better than most of the people involved in this...

Canseco said this morning on ESPN 950 in Philly that he WAS NOT referring to Ricky and that his statement was meant to be a general one, not in reference to a specific player.

With that said, it hasn't been that hard to peg these guys. I started a thread a while back about guys I suspected were juicers. Manny, Ortiz, and Sosa were at the top of my list. A few months later their names came out. It feels good to be right but at the same time it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

I still can't believe people were defending Sosa even after the corked bat issue. It was obvious he was a cheater.

Pretty much all of the good players were doing it.
Was Mark McGuire on the top of your list? How many times did Sosa break his bat in his career? How many times was he caught corking?

homerism, no kidding. Sosa was obvious for much more than the corked bat... it was also how he handled the corked bat situation, the spike in his numbers and the HUGE drop off when the testing started getting tough.

Jose is a scumbag. But your right. All the names he's mentioned, before they were caught, were right on the money.

The HOF I'm beating he's going to mention is Nolan Ryan. Seems like since this problem came into the spotlight, you have more guys who got caught at one point or another played for the Texas Rangers. Ryan should be no exception.

I never defended Big Mac. I have also made posts on this website that I think Pujols has juiced in this past and you're calling me a homer? LOL.

Don't get all offended because you're a Cubs fan and I mentioned Sosa. Every team has players that cheated. Get over it. I don't understand why you are asking me how many times Sosa has broken his bat. What does it matter? He cheated with corked bats and drugs and he also lied through his teeth numerous times. If you want to stick up for the guy, be my guest.

Holding onto the glory days? Hahaha. That's something a Cubs fan would have no idea about.

Baseball should release all of the names and move on. This issue is never going to die if the names keep leaking every few months. Baseball is just smearing things at this point.

Bronson Arroyo said that his name was probably on the list today on sports talk radio.

Ryan was a teammate with Jose for the final two years of his career. Ryan retired in 1993

Yea Im sure a 25 year vet like Nolan Ryan would have swapped roid stories and juiced up with freaking Jose Canseco in his last season[/sarcasm]

people throwing around accusations in this thread without anything behind it means absolutely NOTHING whatsoever. Canseco didnt even mention Ryan and people are looking for reasons to accuse. The witch hunt is getting ridiculous.

                        Palmeiro, Sosa, ARod...who else?

that is a small percentage of the total players named. There have been more Dodgers than anyone, so lets accuse anyone who ever played for LA

IF Ryan used, i'm sure it was only once or twice and nothing major. I just don't see a guy who played for 25 years suddenly becoming a hardcore roid case. The connection to Tom House is clearly there and as i've stated earlier in the thread (or the other can't remember) House has a very murky history regarding steroids. Notice that Ryan suddenly developed groin and leg problems at the end of his career though that could be due to his body finally breaking down.

Trust me when I say I don't want to hear that Ryan was a user as he's one of the classiest guys and best pitchers i've ever seen.

Regarding Ryan, i'm not accusing but just connecting the dots. Like I said above the Tom House/Canseco connection is there and if he did dabble in steroids it may have only been once or twice.

btw, ya'll do realize there are drugs you can use that are "performance enhancing", but that are not looked down upon or illegal in most sports right? Pro athletes in every single pro sport use PED's, but there is a fine line between what is taboo or illegal, and what is not.

as far as Ryan, there are no "dots to connect". Im sure in 25 years, Ryan came across people that roided. However, that is not enough to accuse someone.

We all know that even before Canseco arrived that Texas was a chemical factory. You add in Canseco and that's more fuel to the fire. Look, i'm not accusing Ryan just wondering out loud. I'd be the last guy to accuse him of this kinda stuff.
