This is why I defend him on the corked bat thing, because if it was not intentional he would be no worse than most others (such as McGwire).

BigDof, I didn't know the corked bat was significantly lighter. Can't say that I ever used one. But he did use a corked bat for batting practice, so the excuse makes a bit of sense.

Your logic is wacky. I don't think it's intentional... I think you really believe it makes sense but it's only bc you've already made an opinion and are looking for ways to defend it.

Basically what you're saying is that he's had other broken bats and they weren't corked so we can assume that he only used the corked bat once. That's wacky. Furthermore, we can assume that he was telling the truth about making a mistake in using that bat. He'd be an idiot to use a corked bat every time he stepped to the plate but that doesn't mean he only used one once. Do you remember someone crawling through the ventilation system trying to switch the bat for him? If it was just a mistake then why on earth would there be so much trouble put into covering it up?

And it's worse if he's trying to cheat by doing something that most other players have abandoned (using a corked bat) than doing what everyone else is doing and getting away with. I don't see how that could be better.

BTW, I love Sammy. I felt very sad watching him become exposed on my beloved O's, at the same time that so many other O's were getting nailed for roids too. I also don't really care that much about him using. I just don't get how anyone can act like he didn't juice or intentionally use a corked bat.

        I still don't understand what you're saying.

Sosa was in the midst of a slump when he got busted with the corked bat. I'm sure he didn't use it all of the time. He probably was just trying to gain another edge when he decided to use the corked bat.

I laugh when players act stupid about things they injected into their bodies and I laugh at Sosa's excuse for the corked bat. What did you think he was going to say?

This is the same guy that said he would take a drug test anytime anywhere and then when a reporter called his bluff and had a test ready, he ran out of the room saying it was uncalled for.

This is the same guy that forgot how to speak English when he went before congress.

If he has lied on so many different occassions, why would you believe him about the corked bat?

Canseco has been our most credible source when it comes to this issue in baseball. Who do you think it is is?

I'm going to go with Nolan Ryan or Rickey Henderson.
          Nolan Ryan you freakin serious?

Really? It is wacky to assume he didn't use it more than once but not wacky to assume he did. Interesting... but it makes no sense at all. Let me make this easier to understand. Lets say a guy gets pulled over. He's 20, but has been pulled over about ten times before. He takes a breathalyser and is over 0.00 BAC. His excuse is that he just used mouthwash. When he has his hearing in the courtroom, the judge says he has had prior history because of speeding tickets and gives him 2 years in prison (I don't know the drunk driving penalties). Is the judges decision fair at all? No. You are the judge in this story. You said the guy is a proven criminal because he speeds (which everyone does, but only some are caught). Get it?

Everyone lied about the steroids before they were all outed. With the exception of Canseco, that is. But after they get suspended and fail a test or are "listed", they are honest or don't talk at all. He is no different than anyone else with the steroid stuff. And the only lying he did pertained to steroids. He thought he was in the clear so he could say whatever he wanted. When else did he lie?

I believe him about the corked bat because it was the first time it had happened.

But I respect your opinion saying he did it on purpose, because you have a lot of reasons that make sense as to why he would.

You're still the only one that makes no sense. It's a shame that you can't see it.

Speeding tickets don't relate to drinking and driving. And even if you chugged a gallon of mouthwash and that put you over the legal limit then yes, the judge would be being fair. Doesn't matter how you got over the limit, if you're over the limit it impairs your ability to operate a vehicle. Horrible, horrible example. And even then, if the guy tried to get someone to destroy his tests then it'd relate a bit more... and if that happened, yes the judge would throw him in jail.

This is the point. It's a shame to see that you don't understand it. You can't judge the guy's character and say he needs a lesson just because he had speeding tickets before. It's not fair. Almost everybody speeds. The comparison makes perfect sense. And BTW, legal limit for a 20 year old is .00--- maybe you should try to read a bit closer? You aren't very good at that, because I have to explain something to you in every post. He doesn't need to chug mouthwash to get .01 BAC. *sighs* The guy wouldn't be deserving of 2 years in prison (which a guy with history would get) because he had prior speeding tickets. I hope you get this, because it is the last time I will explain it to you.

Kid seriously, you need to stop with the little insults in every post. Truth be told, you've looked like a homeristic idiot throughout this thread... and a plain idiot in others. I'm really not even trying to put any effort into debating this with you bc your arguments are so stupid. Out of respect I didn't want to be so blunt about it but you like throwing little insults in there like you deserve a pat on the back for saying something else that makes absolutely no sense. Continue to convince yourself that this guy you don't know outside of him playing for your team didn't cork a bat. Put together arguments for the tooth fairy and santa claus too for all I care. You're far from the only person on this planet who refuses to accept reality. Most are just smart enough not to show the rest of us how "special" they are.

                            Sosa was proven guilty.

So you basically think that Sosa only used the corked bat once? You take his word?

Seriously man, use some common sense. What are the odds of the bat breaking the ONE TIME he uses it? Is Sosa really that lucky or did his luck run out? I think most of us know the answer.

That is a horrible analogy yet you think you made it easier for people to understand?

Because the dude is a cheater, liar, and a fraud.

                              Sosa was proven guilty.

So you basically think that Sosa only used the corked bat once? You take his word?

Seriously man, use some common since. What are the odds of the bat breaking the ONE TIME he uses it? Is Sosa really that lucky or did his luck run out? I think most of us know the answer.
I already said I respect your opinion on the matter. You have yours and I have mine. It's no big deal. The only person who knows if Sosa did it intentionally or not is Sosa himself. So until he takes a lie detector test on the matter nobody is right, nobody is wrong, and nobody else knows the answer. And I'll leave it at that.

Fair enough. You're entitled to your opinion. I just believe the evidence is stacked against him. If he really only used the bat once, the fact that it broke when he used it is hilarious. That being said, I really doubt that was the case.

I'm very doubtful Sosa would take a lie detector test.
