Derek Jeter is the best player of the last 15 years, look at it this way he is the captain of the greatest team, has 4 world series rings, 6 appearences. Is a great all around player, no steroids, and while he keeps getting accused of being washed up, he is having one of his best seasons this year, on a team that is steam rolling through the american league again. I know all you yankee haters gonna say he aint got this number or that number, but you tell me someone thats more clutch, you tell me someone with more rings? Watch out pete rose, cause jeter is taking your hits total away nextYankees

Re: who do you consider the greatest baseball player of your generation
Well maybe not "next"...just a little hurdle of 57 other players and 1500+ hits to go.
While I definitely won't give you Jeter as the greatest PLAYER of this generation, I will give you Jeter as the greatest TEAMMATE of this generation.
I don't think anyone can dispute the guy has been on another level as far as that goes. Very professional.
(and certainly a great player)

Re: who do you consider the greatest baseball player of your generation
oh yeah derek jeter is only the most productive shortstop in baseball ever... lets see 4 world series rings im pretty sure he has 7 season of 200+ hits, will have over 3,200 hits when his career is done, has a career batting average of .317. will probably finnish with 300 homeruns and 1500 rbi's and has produced 1553 runs scored over his great carrer. not to mention that he is the most respected player in baseball. the only one shortstop that might be better is honus wagner. and i dont care how many games cal ripken played his career batting average was mediocre and jeter will have more RBI's runs scored and world series titles when his career is over. AND he is in the contention for MVP this season and is posting the highest fielding percentage of his career this season. overatted in the field possibly but he is still the most productive to ever play the position.

Re: who do you consider the greatest baseball player of your generation
Seriously, why does everyone have to act like he won 4 rings by himself? That's so obnoxious.
I like Jeter, and I agree that he's one of, if not the best, to ever play his position. Offensively, he's been a machine his entire career. But this thing with his reputation where people go "Jeter is better than _____ because he has 4 rings" is just freaking ridiculous.Comment

1. Doesn't play everyday.
2. Doesn't even start.
3. Never wins a game. Just preserves it.
4. Only seen on defense. Never hits.
5. Hardly ever gets 80 innings in a season that has 1400-1500.
I'm calling this..........
