Luther Hackman and a minor leaguer for Brett Tomko. Tomko has been stinking it up for the Cardinals. I think Hackman did better work then he has done.

The Tavarez and Willis for Clement and Alfonseca deal was a steal.. for the MARLINS!

Ok, so Tavarez sucks. However, Clement is, as of right now, no better than a 5th starter. Alfonsucko is costing us 4 million to be a middle reliever, while Dontrell Willis is dominating with the Marlins.

Other bad ones: Todd Hundley and Chad Hermansen for Grudzielanek and Karros. Hermansen sucks, Hundley's on the DL, and Grudz and Karros are starting for the Cubs with .300 + seasons.

This isn't very recent but it's one of the worst trades in Blue Jays history. They traded Cone (who still had a few good yrs left in him) and Steve Karsay to the Yanks for a couple of prospects that didn't even pan out! It's always bad to trade with division rivals but when the trade is that lopsided then "sigh"

Huh? I thought Karsay was on the Indians?

Karsay was originally a Blue Jay farmhand I may have gotten his trade mixed up but I know he was traded around the time the Jays were purging their early 90s superstars.

Given the differences in the supporting casts, I'm sure Woody wouldn't have done nearly as well W-L wise in San Diego as he has in StL, but the Padres were always in games that he pitched. That deal for Lankford was a straight salary dump for the Padres. They traded Woody's 2-3 year big money contract for Lankford's 1 year big money contract. Lankford was absolutely horrible with the Padres. Woody was a PLAYER, and he would have helped the Padres entire pitching staff. Right now, Brian Lawrence is the Padres "ace" and the oldest starting pitcher they have (I think he's like 26-27). The Padres are in desperate need of someone who can show the young starting pitchers how its done. Woody would have been perfect.
