Watching the Cubs/Sox game on WGN. Did anyone just see the two game saving catches by O'Leary and Sosa at the wall to save Farsworth's bacon in the 7th? He at least owes them dinner....

I love the Cubs, so it pains me to say this ...

but their lack of execution is finally starting to catch up with them. They've been playing poor fundamental baseball all year, but their pitching has been keeping them in it. Unfortunately, the pitching can afford NO mistakes, because the hitting (excluding the rare exception) will not/cannot get it done.

Cubs could've put the Sox away today ... didn't. Cubs should've put the Sox away yesterday ... didn't. Same thing in the Brewers series. Doesn't bode well for the remainder of the season.

But, hey, I'll keep rooting for 'em. Go Cubs. Get 'em tomorrow.
