From what I heard, the list is:

      Acta
      Valentine
      Travis Fryman
      Tory Lovello
and last but certainly not least, Don Mattingly.

If I were the Cleveland Indians, I would vouch hard for Mattingly. And no it's not because I'm a Yankee fan:wink:

There has to be a minor league manager in their system that's more worthy than anyone on that list.

Does Fryman have minor league experience or is he getting the "I played for your team and people liked me" gift?
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Currently coaches their Low A team, I believe, and is getting rave reviews.

Also, if Fryman is the choice, then it's likely he's going to have a VERY experience bench coach, like a Hargrove, to help him along.

                  Re: Sweet Meat Pies...

Fryman and Hargrove are officially out and Mattingly reached out to Shapiro to let him know he is very interested in the job and Shapiro has also given a very large amount of interest as well.

The final list is Acta, Valentine, Tory Lovello *AAA Indians Manager*, Mattingly and that is from the mouth of Mark Shapiro.

I'm pretty sure the Indians are going to hire Acta. ATM I would say the thing looks something like...

                        Acta
                        Mattingly
                        Lovullo
                        Valentine

Bobby V had probably the weirdest, most awful press conference I have ever heard. And he has no idea what OPS is...so yeah, stay far away.

Do you guys really want a guy like Acta running the Indians after the fiasco with DC? I mean very few would have success there but it seemed he took the authority thing to the hilt.

Acta had no authority. He was a players manager and he sucked. I would hate for him to go to the Indians. The inmates would run the asylum within days.

                              Really?

I thought I read an article recently where the players blasted him for not putting enough pressure on them to perform...

Valentine would hate managing the Indians once he realizes that unlike when he managed the Mets the Indians are not going to go out and buy him big name players.

Acta is a clown and if i were an Indians fan i would not want him.

Lovullo would seem like the logical choice. He has managed most of the Indians players at some point in the minor leagues. Unfortnately he could be another Eric Wedge, but he might be worth the chance.
