He really needs to learn he can't throw his now mediocre fastball 95% of the time.

Brad Penny, John Smoltz, Billy Wagner. Not signing Teix.

When is Boy Wonder gonna get some criticism?
I don't see how the moves were the reason they lost. Yes they didn't pan out as hoped, but they didn't give up anything of significance to try it. All of the above were known to be sort of wildcard moves. If one works really well, it's great. Unfortunately, none did enough.

As for Tex, can't do much if the guy simply doesn't want to sign with your team. The money was there, the push was there, but he wasn't interested. As I recall, he was okay with Theo, but didn't like the ownership. In either case he liked the Yankees more and has made a huge difference for them.

I have no trouble with the moves. They simply got stifled by a better playing team over games 1 and 2. They gave away game 3. Can't really put that on management IMO.

Thing is, someone will want him in a trade.

The Red Sox already have his replacement and now they'll be able to acquire future talent for a closer.

I know most people don't agree with me, but with the exception of maybe three guys in baseball (and that's possibly even a stretch), the closer role is the most overrated position in baseball.

Throwing big dollars at these guys is comical.

I agree overall. Although I think you guys might have the exception to that rule. It's really Mo...huge pause...and everyone else. Can't hurt to have a guy with his resume finishing the job for you each night.
