Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be bitter or anything, it's just kinda...shocking...when put in that sort of perspective.

Anyway, congrats Yanks. I hope the Angels kick your asses.

its the greatest infield ever. Why wouldn't we pay them?

His numbers have dropped notably this year with runners in scoring position, RISP with 2 out, and late innings of close games. If his .859 OPS with RISP was for a full season overall, it would have been good for 48th in the majors, just ahead of Nelson Cruz, Johnny Damon, and Billy Butler.

It's not that he hasn't gotten clutch hits, it's just that he hasn't been getting them as often as he should.

The only "clutch stat" where his numbers aren't great this year is risp with 2 outs, and an .804 ops isn't exactly terrible.

Late and close his ops is 1.222. Tie games its .964. One run games .958. 2 run games .995. 3 run games .957. 4 run games .960. More than 4 run games? .749

Also, he has much better numbers in the middle and late innings than the early innings. And I don't know where to get the exact stats right now, but a very high percentage of his homeruns and rbis have either tied or given the Yankees the lead.

Hmm. MLB.com shows his OPS in 'close and late' as 1.153 against righties and .236 against lefties.

And A-Rod's OPS in some situations can be pretty skewed, because righties tend to pitch around him to get to Matsui, whose only got an OPS of .835 against righties this year. For example, in MLB.com's close and late situations, A-Rod's walk rate against righties is about twice as high as it is in other situations, which skews A-Rod's OPS high in that situation for no other reason than Hideki Matsui only being 'solid' against righties.

But that's all I really want to say about A-Rod. He's obviously good, but probably not very good or great in these situations. I just don't feel like getting dragged into this sort of discussion because someone took a bit of frustrated hyperbole too seriously.

Gee, and people wonder where Yankees fans get their reputation.

It was a joke Snepp, I'm sorry you lost Tori Hunter and Johan Santana, I like teams to be as competitive as they can. It was just a little jab
