Well it seems that every sports reporter thinks this deal is gonna "help" them..and so do I. The guy didn't like New York, and he is gonna be with his brother Sandy. I think he is a great addition to the roster, and could be the push we need to win the division

That's exactly right, and what is DJ doing for us at second base? All he's doing is making errors because he's too lazy to put out the effort.

      Re: Roberto Alomar

I think this is a bad move by the Sox.

Ring is going to be a great player. 19 Saves, 2.52 ERA in AA this season. He was a 2002 draft pick. Almonte isn't doing well this season, and that other guy, Salvi? Savlo? I have never even heard of him. Some Class A kid.

This is a bad move especially because the Twins and Royals, I think, still have the upper hand on the Sox. And they have no chance of Wild Card.

This is a deal that they will look back and say, "what were we thinking?"

Here are the stats of the 3 minor leaguers that the White Soxs gave up:

Edwin Almonte, RP, 26, 2-6 W-L, 14 saves, 6.88 ERA, 34.0 IP in 30 games at Class AAA Charlotte.(HE SUCKS! GO HOME)

Royce Ring,RP, 22, 1-4 W-L,19 saves, 2.52 ERA, 35.2 IP in 36 games at Class AA Birmingham.(Might be solid player one day but not now)

Andrew Salvo 2B, 23, .223 (25-112), 1HR and 6 RBI in 42 games between Class A Kannapolis and Class A Winston-Salem.(Maybe good in the future but nothing to write home about)

So from my standpoint the Soxs got the better of this deal for now.

Alomar's under-achieving presence was detrimental to the Mets', and since he was leaving anyway this couldn't possible be a bad deal. If all the Mets' were getting were a cooler full of Chicago's best Brats this would be a good trade.

Looks like Robbie gets his second chance at playing with his brother.

Baseball Tonight just said that the Royals almost landed Alomar. Looks like this fight for the division crown could get very interesting, especially if the Royals are going to try and actually contend and keep their players for a while. Hopefully they dont dismantle until after the season is over. Plus side to this whole thing is they are in good shape to guarantee Sweeney's full contract, as it had a clause in it where they had to have a winning record this year or next to keep him the entire contract, should they not trade him.
