    Re: Jose Guillen....All Star?

Adam Dunn an all star??? You have to be kidding me! He's batting .207 with an OBP of .355. Baseball isn't all about HR's. His stats are terrible this year aside from the long ball. He's a Dave Kingman type player - for those that don't know Dave Kingman - Tons of K's and tons of HR's.

Jose Guillen has put up the best numbers for the Reds so far. I'm not sold on him because I watched him flame out in PGH, but he is having the best season. Doesn't mean he'll make the all-star team though because there are a ton of good outfielders in the NL...

If Junior doesn't leave town soon, Guillen may have to go elsewhere to really make a name for himself I think. When all those other guys are healthy, he gets bumped out of playing time.

There are too many good outfielders that are going to make the team. He deserves it more than anyone else on the reds, but there is no room for him.

Jose Guillen should be the Reds all-star rep. I don't care if he's the "fourth" outfielder or not. Right now, he's their best player, even better than Aaron Boone. The kid's on fire. The numbers don't lie. I just watched him help beat my Bucs two nights in a row. Every time I've seen a Reds game on TV, Guillen is doing something positive.

On the same note: we'll (the Bucs) trade you Kris Benson for him!

Ummm... Dave Kingman had a career OBP of .302. Adam Dunn's OBP of .355 will most likely be up to around .375 by the end of the year as the hits start falling. Adam Dunn is better than the league average of getting on base, Dave Kingman was below average.

Jose Guillen is hitting 60 points higher than his career average. If he is given plenty of atbats, that will not continue. We only have less than 230 PAs for him, as the sample size increases, he will go back to his old self. Ken Griffey, Jr, Adam Dunn, or Austin Kearns are their best hitters, it's hard to choose. I'd say Dunn has probably put up the best numbers.

.355 is such a good OBP. Yes, all Dunn does is HR, Strike Out, or Walk, but if you look at the numbers closely, he is having a pretty good year.

As for Guillen: No, he should not be an all star. Boone should be.
