    Re: Jose Guillen....All Star?

I agree it should be Guillen. He is the only player on that team who can hit with any consistency at all. Dunn is a joke, 10 for 62 with RISP!!! You gots to be f**king joking, he is terrible! Kearns has 1 or 2 HR's in the last 30 games after his hot start. Boone can hit 3HR's in a game and then not hit one for a quarter season! I love the Reds, but without Guillen, they are 15 games out instead of 5! And that is why he should represent the Reds at the All Star game, not these other inconsistent .250 swing for the fences, lead the league in Strikeouts, errors, and lowest team BA hacks the Reds have this year! Oh, and did anyone see Griffey Jr's stellar at bat today? What a has been he has been! Curse of the whiny *** under achiever!

Jose is on fire. I know he isn't a starter, but he's doing better than sosa! He may not be a starter and new to the reds, but he's the guy that is getting them there wins.

Exactly. That was the point of my earlier post.

This idea of having to have so many third basemen, so many of this and that is really ludicrous. There are enough roster spots available on the teams that the best player of each team should be represented, regardless of what position he plays. Aaron Boone because he's a 3B and the NL roster is short on 3B? Come on! So, gee, let Mike Lowell and Scott Rolen play the whole game. That's tough. 9 innings between the two of them. Why does the NL need another 3B on the roster? And, if they do, why does it have to be Aaron Boone when Guillen is clearly more deserving? That's like saying Aramis Ramirez should be the Pirates all-star rep because there are too many outfielders and Brian Giles won't be a starter. But, we need another 3B, so in goes Ramirez. That whole argument doesn't make much sense.

Out of the 4 Reds OFs... Dunn should be sitting. He is playing awful lately. He only had 4 HRs in June, and his SO total is gradualy rising.

Hopefully, Griffey will be able to come around after the all-star break.

Guillen is simply amazing. If he started every day, he would be hope there with Lowell and Delgado for HR #s. Guillen definently deserves to be the Reds all-star.

Even way back when Guillen was with the Pirates, the guy could hit. And, he's a good outfielder with a hell of an arm. The Pirates gave up on him because he had an attitude problem and they were desperate for catching help because Kendall had just gone down with a season-ending ankle injury. Personally, I'd LOVE to have Jose Guillen playing RF EVERYDAY for the Bucs again.

To answer an earlier post; I don't think anybody expects Guillen to continue hitting close to .350. But, who says he can't? If Guillen somehow gets 550 ABs, would anyone in Cincinnati be disappointed with .310 BA, 28 HRs, 120 RBIs, and 35 doubles? I don't think this guy's a flash in the pan. He's shown promise before. Now, he's 27 and more mature. Frankly, I'm rooting for him.
