Re: GM of the Year?
What'd O'Dowd do this year? And don't get me wrong, that's not some snarky way of saying he didn't do anything, I just really have no idea what he did this year.Comment

Re: GM of the Year?
He fired Clint Hurdle. And that firing (and subsequent hiring of Jim Tracy) jump started an amazing run for that team."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: GM of the Year?
And by "spent wisely" you mean outbid every other team for 3 of the top 5 free agents last year...
**Not that there's anything wrong with Yankees spending money. I disagree with MLB's policies, but it's the Yankees money so I'm not going to knock them for spending it. I just don't think that there GM should win the award because they essentially have an unlimited budget**Comment

Re: GM of the Year?
It's kinda like saying I'm very wise for not sticking my face on a stove.
Spending money on Sabathia and Teixeira, much like not sticking my face on a stove, is not wisdom, it's just obvious.Comment
