If they let that overrated bum Babe Ruth in, they have to let these scrubs in too.

Im pretty hardline when it comes to hall of famers.

If a poll has to be taken, or a question has to be asked, the answer is no.

Can someone a real argument to me as to why Belle isn't in the HOF outside of "he didn't have longevity."?

Not getting to 400 HR's when 400 was the standard is probably the biggest reason as far as statistics go, with the biggest reason being the man himself.

Off the field far too many reasons to list but boiling down to not being a likeable guy. Probably lucky he got out of the game before the steroid issue really took off. And i think some (would) hold against him sitting on the DL for three years collecting the remainder of his Orioles contract.

With Belle, it all boils down the the lack of longevity as you mention.

He only played 10 full seasons and even though 6 of them were absolutely terrific, I'm afraid it's just not enough.

60th on the all-time HR list and 123rd on the all-time RBI list just aren't good enough overall. Especially for the era that he played his entire career in.

Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?

Alright, these are Chipper Jones numbers:

                      H 2500 HR 436 2B 497 RBI 1497 BA .306 OBP .405 SLG .536

The only other players in the history of baseball who have numbers in each of those categories that match or exceed Chipper's numbers are:

                      Stan Musial
                      Lou Gehrig
                      <strike>Manny Ramirez</strike>
                      Babe Ruth
                      Ted Williams

That is it. Pretty crazy. He's been an incredibly balanced hitter and should be a Hall of Famer, without question.

                        Agreed.

Chipper will get in. It's too bad injuries have hampered him a bit over the past several years because he would probably be closer to 500 HR's by now.

Chipper is an absolute lock to get in. No need to even bother discussing it.

So we can all agree that Griffey is hands down a first ballat and an easy lock right?

Yeah, a few years back after the fallout and serious testing started, a lot of reports were that Pudge had trimmed down quite a bit. There was quite a bit of speculation as to the timing of it all. It was a loose suspicion though, and nothing much was made of it, I don't believe.

I think that suspicion pretty much applies to any player that played even remotely great during that period though.
