Sure, three young pitcher's would do the Rangers more, but an over-paid closer in useless to a team 18 games back... and considering they got Urbina for nothing at the start of the season, this is a good way to stock-pile your team with talent.

Re: My sources tell me
That deal between LA and Pitts. Was talked about on Fox Sports Net here in Cali. Ordalis for Giles will not happen at this time because Brown is on the DL and they don't have a lot of depth now at the Starters. So, if Ordalis is going to be traded for Giles it will most likely happen at the Trade Deadline. The DuCross Brothers: Sports Internet Talk Show

What is Texas thinking? Texas doesn't need hitting prospects. Yes, Raffy is going to be gone in a little bit, and nobody really knows how long Jaun is going to stay for, but come one. They have A-Rod for the next 8 years, Hank Blalock, Mark Texeria, and Michael Young. So they are going to trade away a decent pitcher for some young hitting prospects, yet they have no pitching? I don't see the logic in this.

If I'm Texas I'm thinking of good hitting prospects as trade bait. Taking a pitching prospect is alot more risky than taking a hitting prospect if you ask me. I finally think the Rangers are doing some good things here. It's about damn time!Life is a sport, so play hard!

They were talking about this on Baseball Tonight. According to the Pirates, they ALSO want LA's best two pitching prospects along with Perez, and apparently LA wasn't willing to give up all of that.Comment
