Re: When will Tim McCarver learn

Is there anybody who likes the guy?
Not only is he unlikable, he just doesn't know baseball.
It is some kind of an accomplishment to spend this many years around the game, and be a former catcher, yet no relatively NOTHING about the game.
His commentary makes me grind my teeth, my 10 year old son even knows he's full of it.

totally agree. When they made the bogus call on that ground rule double that the fan touched, McCarver could not stop talking about just because Furcal was fast meant that he automatically should score. But if it's a slow guy, then hold him up at 3rd. He had them freaking slow the replay down to show where Furcal was when the fan grabbed the ball and went into detail trying to explain this crap. Wow, what a great commentator.

What's wrong with this? I mean, God-forbid that a baseball analyst should actually try to analyze something.

I think McCarver is okay. He's a former catcher, and he can give some insight to the pitching-hitting battle. He's not great, but he gives some valuable information.

Re: When will Tim McCarver learn

McCarver is a terrible announcer. He is a self-righteous, know-it-all blowhard who doesn't know much, let alone "all". He over analyzes and explains everything like everyone watching the game is stupid, but half the time, he is not right (the Furcal thing, for example). He and Joe Buck make up one of the most obnoxious announcing teams in the history of sports, because Buck is arrogant as well (and "too cute" a lot of the time, stop with your damn pop culture references and talk about the game), although at least he seems able to limit himself at times.
