    Dusty totally outmanaged - AGAIN!

The subject line says it all.
Sure, most of the time Gagne is automatic, but Scoscia played the percentages and the matchups,
While Dusty played the same ol' 'Make the players like me" crap.
With this one counting for home field advantage, this should be the last time Dusty ever loses a game for the Giants.

Bayklor is an idiot. He had Gagne in to hold the game

This is kinda funny because there is a post on the Chicago Cubs Forum at www.chicagocubs.com that has pretty much this same exact title.

haha, I knew it would only be a matter of time before Cub fans caught on.
Dusty Baker is to managing what Tim McCarver is to commentary.

It's true that Scioscia (sp) outmanaged Dusty but what would YOU do differently? I think it was a sound decision to put Gagne in the 8th unless you wanted to put him in the 9th and have Smoltz pitch the 8th.

Dusty thought that the NL had the game in the bag which is why he went through his bench the way he did. It was the typical ASG managing for Dusty whereas Scio....er the AL manager strategized like it was a true, meaningful game.

This is exactly what Dusty did wrong, assumed he had it in the bag. You never do that in a meaningful game (which this was), especially when the team has a line up like the AL All Stars.
                      What I would've done differently,
I would've planned on having Smoltz and Gagne take the 8th and 9th, and use Wagner if a lefty came up as the tying run. Scioscia intentionally held back Blalock untill Wagner was out of the game,
                      The funniest part-
Dusty even told Scioscia that he would use Wagner early in the pre-game show

Since I get to see Gagne pitch a lot on TV in Socal, he is much better in the 9th inning going for the save than trying to keep the lead in the 8th.

Gagne is 31-31 in save opportunities so I think Dusty should have put Smoltz in the 8th, then Gagne.

I don't know why, but Gagne just has that mentality when it gets down to the 9th and he is unhittable.

BTW what is the deal with Dusty and Dontrelle? Lots of people including myself wanted to see Dontrelle in there, but instead Dusty puts YET ANOTHER CARDINAL in Woody Williams.

AND HOW BOUT MY BOY GARRET ANDERSON! Bringing some serious hardware back to the Big Ed'.
