Re: Dusty totally outmanaged - AGAIN!

Since I get to see Gagne pitch a lot on TV in Socal, he is much better in the 9th inning going for the save than trying to keep the lead in the 8th.

Gagne is 31-31 in save opportunities so I think Dusty should have put Smoltz in the 8th, then Gagne.

I don't know why, but Gagne just has that mentality when it gets down to the 9th and he is unhittable.

BTW what is the deal with Dusty and Dontrelle? Lots of people including myself wanted to see Dontrelle in there, but instead Dusty puts YET ANOTHER CARDINAL in Woody Williams.

AND HOW BOUT MY BOY GARRET ANDERSON! Bringing some serious hardware back to the Big Ed'.

I think he didn't use Willis because the Cubs have yet to see him.
Just a hunch, but that's the kind of mgr. Baker is. He plays the guys he knows.
That's why it took Rich Aurillia 4 years to get an everyday job.

I was praying for the AL to tie it so Dontrelle could pitch, or at least possibly have a chance at pitching. Dusty used his bench in one fell swoop. Advantage Scioscia

Honetsly who would expect Blalock to homer off Gagne?
Did Dontrelle even pitch in this game?

Is "Bayklor" a combination of Dusty Baker and Don Baylor or what?

Dontrelle Willis didn't pitch because he had just pitched on Saturday I think, and Baker really didn't want to take any chances at all with a young, talented arm like that. There was a story about it on ESPN a couple days before the game.
