My List of Pirates Untouchables:
1. Aramis Ramirez - see above post
2. Kip Wells, Josh Fogg, Jeff Suppan -- two quality young guys and a good veteran presence in the starting rotation.
3. Jack Wilson -- if Lloyd ever gets his head out of his *** and puts him second, he'll be valuable to the offense as well as being an above average defensive shortstop
4. Mike Lincoln -- possibly the closer of the future. If not, still a damn good setup man.
Everyone else, I'd consider tradable.“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment

The only way you will get rid of Kendall is if you add Giles in any of the trades...Comment

Packaging Giles and Kendall would be ideal, but unless the Padres come calling with open arms for their two native sons, it's unlikely they'll be a package. Not many teams can take on that much salary. Unless, the Pirates either eat at least half of Kendall's contract OR take a player with a higher salary in return. The rumored Padre deal made some sense from the fact that the Padres supposedly want the Pirates to take on Ryan Klesko or Mark Kotsay's contract. Klesko wouldn't be bad swap if his contract is up at the end of 2004. Otherwise, Giles and Klesko are pretty even offensively and Giles is FAR superior on defense. What is Klesko making anyways? And, what's his contract status? Anyone know?Comment
