I will not accept a DH in the Reds lineup while playing a home game.

Expansion? In this era of diluted pitching? No way. If anything, reduction.

Not crazy about mixing AL and NL together. If anything just restructure the divisions by a class system of spending: lower, middle and upper. It would give teams that have no chance of competing in lopsided divisions a chance to make the playoffs.

Right. Considering they've been in the National League since 1890

I think the main problem with realignment as far as switching leagues, is that the reason NL teams are in the NL is not only because they don't want the DH, but they don't like the DH and want no part of it. To force teams who have no interest in the rule to use it wouldn't be too smart.

                Re: Realignment ideas from Rosenthal

For kicks I realigned the divisions based on payroll spent, 3 tiers highest to lowest:

                AL (Tier 1)
                Yankees
                Red Sox
                Tigers
                Angels
                Mariners

                AL (Tier 2)
                White Sox
                Indians
                Blue Jays
Brewers (Brought them back to the AL)

                AL (Tier 3)
                Rays
                A's
                Orioles
                Rangers
                Royals
                Twins

                NL (Tier 1)
                Mets
                Cubs
                Phillies
                Astros
                Dodgers

                NL (Tier 2)
                Braves
                Cardinals
                Giants
                Rockies

                NL (Tier 3)
                Marlins
                Padres
                Pirates
                Nationals
                Reds

                  Re: Realignment ideas from Rosenthal

It'd be interesting to see who'd win a division like the AL Tier 3. With a lot of young talent and no clear winner. Any given year any team could win

                    Re: Realignment ideas from Rosenthal

The only thing that worries me about setting up division by revenue is teams that don't make a lot of money will never spend more or even give their team a chance to spend more.

Look at the Mariners on that list. They have one good off-season and add significant payroll and they are expected to battle it out with the Yankees and Red Sox? I'd bet that if such a setup existed, the Mariners don't add the significant payroll. Instead, they keep their payroll low enough to play in Tier 2.

If I was going to do it your way I would stack the NL so that tier 1 has 6 teams. No reason to make it harder/more competitive for the small spenders is there?

                      Again, just my opinion.

Can we keep the Brewers out of the AL? I don't want to go 30-132 every year.

Sincere. The idea isn't serious anyways, but I wanted in on this thread, but aligning them to make sense is very difficult.
