Re: Vlad Guerrero probably leaving Montreal by trade deadline.....

He ain't going anywhere. The media here has talked about it but I have not heard anything recently. They are going to take a chance and hope he doesn't leave the team in free agency. Baseball is pretty dead in a coma in MTL at the moment but if it happens it's over.

If he goes to the Yanks I'm throwing my copy of WSB 2K3 out of the window and will never follow baseball for the rest of my life. I'm serious. . But then again I don't believe it'll happen. Some of our players are coming back from the injured list so we'll make a run at the wildcard spot even though we hardly have a chance.

As ridiculous as that thought may sound, it could very well happen.

If and when the Pirates deal Giles and Kendall, they will have the money to spend. The Pirates have not said they won't spend money. They have said they want better VALUE for their money. If Vlad is healthy going into the off-season, you could very well see Pittsburgh making a pitch for him. He is better suited for a small market and he idolizies Clemente.

Another guy to watch w/the Pirates this off-season is Juan Gonzalez.

Reportedly, (and I do say reportedly), Pittsburgh is one of the very few places he would consider, because he too idolizes Clemente and would "consider it an honor" to finish his career playing for Clemente's team. Again, I've heard this all "second-hand", so I'm not trying to BS about some breaking news story. It does make some sense, though.
