Re: Where Will Pujols Go
I think he said it so that people will leave him alone, but at the same time its not likely that they get a deal of that magnitude done in the middle of the season, which is why I think he won't resign until after 2010. The Cardinals have no incentive to give him that deal in July as opposed to December, and if they try to negotiate during the season, there would be no reason to give him that kind of deal. If he doesn't sign before Opening Day, which isn't very likely, it's likely that he won't get the extension until this winter.Comment

Re: Where Will Pujols Go
You've got to be crazy, Pujols is the best player in the game and makes almost 4 million a year less then Howard.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: Where Will Pujols Go
So, let me get this straight. Let us use real life logic, not videogame logic here.
The Phillies, who may have to trade Howard because he will demand a ****load of money (See Cliff Lee situation), will trade him for Pujols, whose new contract will make Howard's look like turtle turds.
Why in the holy hell would you think that they would do that? If there were no money involved, I would agree with your point. But there is no way on God's green planet the Phillies would trade for Pujols in order to pay him $30 mil a year. Maybe if Utley, Halladay and Rollins and their salaries weren't here, but that's not the case.Comment

I think that before it gets to bad, they will force Frank to sell the team. Or at least I hope.Comment

Trade Howard who makes alot more then Albert, you get Albert at a bargain for the next two years. Then either A. Resign him or B. Trade him for even more prospects then Howard would command. And you are the one who says they may have to trade Howard. Again you just said there is NO way they would trade for Pujols.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Im talking right now.

Why would the Cards trade the best player in baseball just for Ryan Howard because he would be easier to sign? They can get way better in return.
And why would the Phillies trade for a player they know they cannot resign? They've already shown they won't trade for a player that isn't signed to an extension.
They may be able to re-sign Howard, but that is nowhere near a give-in.
They KNOW they cannot resign Pujols.
Basically, both sides in this doesn't make sense.Comment

Re: Where Will Pujols Go
Pujols will be 32 at the end of his current contract and will likely be looking for something that takes him to at least 40.
Rodriguez's contract takes him to 42, Teixeira's to 35, Sabathia's to 35, A.J. Burnett's to 36, and Jeter's next contract will likely take him to 40. It will be very easy for the Yankees to get very old very quickly.
These could be reasons why the Yankees are not in the discussion. For trade purposes they don't have enough in the farm system to get a deal done right now either.Comment

Re: Where Will Pujols Go
I hope and pray that he does not re-sign with the Cardinals. It would make my day/year to see all the Cardinals cry about this. Yes, I'm a Cubs fan and the only enjoyment I get is seeing other people suffer like me. So hopefully he goes somewhere else.Comment

Re: Where Will Pujols Go
Even if the Cardinals were to lose Pujols Adrian Gonzalez and Prince Fielder could both be in the same free agent class. While neither may be as good an overall player as Albert they would be decent (and younger) consulation prizes potentially for St.Louis.Comment

Re: Where Will Pujols Go
Use your brain, dude. This whole thing was only brought up because of money.

No need to tell me to use my brain, DUDE.
I am telling you if the Cards called the Phils (which they wont) tomorrow and said we will trade you Pujols for Howard straight up right now the Phils would jump all over it.
The is the only point I am trying to make.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: Where Will Pujols Go
But you aren't using your brain because you had no reason to make this point whatever. I don't know if you assumed something or what, but you created an argument out of nothing. The trade would never happen straight up just for the hell of it or for any reason considering both teams' situations. THAT is the point.Comment

Again you are crazy if you dont think the Phils would trade Howard for Pujols.
