    Re: Where Will Pujols Go

If Pujols leaves, he's going to look like quite the mercenary, because I don't see too many contenders out there who'd be willing to give him more than a 5-6 year contract at $25M. I think he works something out with the Cardinals somehow, perhaps involving a part-ownership of the team once he retires.

I think Fielder will end up on one of the following teams: Cubs, Rangers, Blue Jays, Nationals.

Fielder? The Cubs or Nationals? I think not. I'd be surprised at that. I'd love to see him in Detroit but that's less realistic than any other team - literally.

I think he should STAY in Milwaukee, though he probably won't. I'm thinking Blue Jays would be a great move... that team is up and coming for sure.

The only reason he won't stay with the Brewers is because they won't pay him. They choose to extend Braun. It's a shame because he's perfect for that team, and their clubhouse.

He'll go back to where he played HS and college baseball of course.

Pujols will 99.9999% In my opinion be a Cardinal.

I'm not holding out hope, Fielder on the other Hand. I like our chances given none of the usual big Markets are going to be in the running considering they have Good 1B already.

Would Fielder be ok with being DH? I would normally say let Lind be the DH if Fielder comes to Toronto but Lind throughout his career has had pathetic numbers when DHing. He does a lot better when he's in the field and he's actually a very capable 1B.

Fielder's a Brewer. Now and forever.

If they can sign Fielder, I don't think AA gives a **** about where Lind wants to play. Lind's 28 (older than Fielder) and ranks 18th in the AL in OPS among 1B/DH types, unacceptable when you play half your games at Rogers Centre. He's basically Lyle Overbay, except worse defensively and walks about half as much. Not interested.

                      Re: Where Will Pujols Go

Albert will most likely stay in St. Louis. The Cards will do whatever it takes to resign him, and he most likely will agree. However, if he leaves, there are some possible suitors. Albert has a complicated contract he wants. He wants 10 years and the best money possible. He also wants to play 1B and not DH. Albert has said he likes the NL and would like to stay there. Dodgers, Giants, and Cubs would be the possible spots in the NL. Let's start with the Dodgers. High market team, great fans, however they are in a huge crisis right now. They can't afford to sign this contract right now. Giants. Many people forget about Brandon Belt. The Giants have said this kid is what they want at 1B. They aren't in a huge market, compared to Chicago and LA, but they could maybe afford it. However, I highly doubt it. On to probably the place Albert will go if not STL, Chicago. The Cubs have been very bleak as to what their plans are for 1B in 2012. Pena has said he wants to stay, which would be ok. He has hit nearly 30 bombs and has been good for the clubhouse. The Cubs also brought up the PCL player of the year in Bryan LaHair who is crushing the ball. I see the Cubs resigning Pena, and looking for pitching through free agency. However, if there's one team I think has the best shot at either Fielder or Pujols, its the Cubs. We'll see what their new GM thinks, but if it's a big time GM, don't be surprised if he goes after one of them if not both. A big time GM won't miss out on these 2 players. He'll sign which ever one he knows he has the best shot to get. Pujols has stated it was his dream to play every day at Wrigley Field, so who knows. He has absolutely crushed the ball there in the past.

You think the Cubs. Who already have Pena at first base. Would get Fielder and Pujols?

I think not. Also. Pujols? The Cubs? Why would he want to go from a contending team to a near last place team?

                          Another (unrealistic) theory.

The Phillies sign Pujols and then trade Howard to the Rangers for some prospects (they could lower the price if the Rangers eat the entire 25M$ of Howard' salary)

I don't want Pujols in Chicago and I'm a Cubs fan. The Cubs are at least 3 or 4 years away from seriously competing even with Albert. It would be a shame seeing him waste away his last years of his prime in the middle of rebuilding project.

$$$. If Pujols absolutely insists on an A-Rod level deal, ie 10 years for $250-300M, then he's gone. The Cardinals just can't afford to pay that. Are there teams out there rich enough to give Pujols that deal? Yes, a few. Are there teams out there both rich and dumb enough? Just the Cubs.

You would have to give somebody prospects to take Howards contract off your hands.
