I want to laugh but I feel like as a Pirates fan he's been through enough. Keep that optimism up though and one day it'll happen I guess. Probably wouldn't say anytime soon though.

It won't be too long. The Pirates are finally doing the right thing after only 20 years or so.

They have the luxury of playing in the NL Central. No disrespect to the Cubs or Cardinals, but the Cardinals aren't going to outspend their division by a landslide and the Cubs continue to find ways to pay Jim Hendry to GM their team. There's a chance in that division, more so than some other divisions in baseball.

It won't happen now, though. Pirates have a long way to go, but they are heading in the right direction. Finally.

The Orioles and Royals will be "back" before the Pirates are.

Doubt the Royals will. Dayton Moore has been terrible since he took over. Gave Guillen 12 mill. per, Meche 11 per, signed or traded for numerous braves rejects, and drafted Luke Hocheaver #1 (bust). The really shook things up signing Rick Ankiel, Jason Kendall, and Podsednik.

They needed everything to go right a few years ago to turn it around and it hasn't. Hocheaver's sucked, Gordon hasn't developed, Teahen didn't develop, Bannister was a fluke. They'd be better off scrapping and giving it another shot with Butler, Hosmer, and Moustakous as the cornerstones.

The Pirates have Andrew McCutchen, Garret Jones, Kevin Hart, Paul Malholm, Ryan Doumit, etc. All good young players who can do it all, it would be foolish to say we WON'T be back

No pitching prospects...Brad Lincoln is damaged goods, and it's hard to recover from great draft picks like Bryan Bullington and Daniel Moskos (thanks again for that!)

It's such a shame that those great young players you speak of will be in a different uniform in the near future. I feel bad for Pirates fans, imagine the team they could have right now if they weren't perpetually acting as an AAAA farm team. McCutchen = future Granderson replacement.
