Ill let it go after this, but obviously the best play would have been Martinez to check Gardner at 3rd and hold him but since the throw was made the best play would have been for Scutaro to take the throw as a straight steal and try to apply the tag to Jeter to get the 3rd out and at least have a debate about Gardner's run...

well Scutaro didn't have a chance because Martinez's throw was so far offline. There was no chance to get Jeter.

And yes..Martinez should've checked the runner back to 3rd before throwing as that is fundamental baseball, but he brain farted.
