hands down griffey, his swing was just so pure.

Re: In Their Prime who had the sweeter swing

Way too much motion before the swing to be pure IMO.....and you can't argue with the numbers Williams' swing put up....blows Griffey Jr. away.
              I'll take "other"...aka Ted Wiliams.

Knight i agree with you on everything except this. Yes i understand williams lost 6 years to the war but ken griffey jr. lost around 6 and a half seasons due to injuries. No injuries Griffey is an easy lock for 850+ home runs and around 1000-1200 more hits in his career. the same thing for ted (hits not homer wise). i think statistically wise in the end Griffy would have been a much more productive RBI guy while ted would have definitely hit for a higher average

and plus you can not argue with this

that first swing is one of perfection

Re: In Their Prime who had the sweeter swing

I always enjoyed watching hitters that keep two hands on the bat like Piazza or Glaus.

I should have quoted the guy above me in that post....what I was trying to get at was the "pure" part of his statement.
Griffey does have a nice swing....but I meant on a whole...his batting is not as pure IMO as other guys.

As for the war vs. injury....can't compare. While neither is in either guys control...one is a personal thing...while Williams...well....
With the 3 years he would have gotten back it would have given each player 22 seasons in the MLB. Williams is already ahead on every offensive stat(while some he simply CRUSHES Griffey....especially avg and K's...and that's w/o the extra years)....give Williams 35 homers for those three and there goes Griff's edge in HR's. You simply can't do that...but even without those 100+ HR's....it's very obvious to me that Williams was a better offensive player than Griffey.

I'm not taking anything away from Griff with that statement either...because Wiliams was simply one of the best....and often forgotten when talking great players IMO.

Griffey Jr. had the best looking swing ever. It just looked so natural.
