I think it's very funny that NYY basically depletes their farm system for veterans who aren't proven successes in NY.
I mean, Boone will be a FA after this season. They give up their #1 pitching prospect for a guy who will be a FA after this season?
Just not smart, IMO. Look at Oakland and the success they are because of their farm system. You would think other teams would take lessons from the A's.

I'm f--------- fuming right now. We give up our best pitching prospect for Aaron Boone?! Come on, what the f---- is Steinbrenner thinking?! Not only do we give up Claussen, but money and another prospect?! Geez, we got screwed.
We need pitching, not hitting.

We definetely could have gotten more for Claussen than Boone.
And why are people suddenly think BoSox are going to the World Series or even beating the Yanks? When was the last time BoSox beat Yanks when it really mattered? Just because they got Jeff Suppan, they're favorites?

You win championships with PITCHING, not offense. Pitching, outside of Pedro and maybe Lowe, BoSox don't have.
Dumb move.

Boone is NOT a free agent. He's eligible for arbitration in the offseason. I like the move a lot. Boone is a quality player (and they got Gabe White too, which will help the pen) and good defensively. Ventura obviously didn't have much left, so it's an upgrade over him, and he's about 5 years younger too. Claussen MAY be good, but who knows? It's tough to tell with young pitchers.

Yes, it's tough to tell, so why not trade away all the young pitchers. I mean you can never tell.

I would have made a push for Mike Lowell, in the off-season. What makes you think that Aaron Boone will suceed? When was the last time Boone played in a big game?
Please, after Brandon Claussen shut out the Mets, he definetely deserved another shot. The guy is left handed and 24 years old. He has a chance to become a good pitcher and be in our rotation next year.
