    Tigers future?

before you all laugh and laugh, I'm kinda serious

They didn't make any moves at the deadline, I just don't know where this franchise is headed...I like the young pitching in Maroth and Bonderman, but something really has to be done before next season, I just don't know what...Anyone here who knows baseball a whole lot better than I do care to offer an opinion?

    Re: Tigers future?

Dombrowski said that there was no market for his high priced "talent". I'm sure he would have loved to dump Higginson and others, but nobody wants $11mil for mediocre talent.

Dombrowski plans on a push for bats this offseason. Easley comes off the books. I believe Palmer does as well. Watch for a big push to move Higginson also.

As it sits right now, their best offensive weapon is Dimitri Young who should be more of a 3rd (maybe 2nd) option for runs on most team. I think Eric Munson is going to be serviceable. But, they have huge flops in Infante, Santiago, Inge, and others. The rebuild starts with bats. The arms are developing... Bonderman, Maroth, Roney, Ledesma...there is some potential. But, they need to score runs.

This should be the first real opening of Mr. I's wallet this coming fall. Remember, the Wings are on a downslide. From a business perspective, Illitich should be funneling money to the Tigers now. With the NHL collective bargaining agreement next year, there should open finances for the Tigers.

    Time will tell.

    Hang in there.

the Tigers will only be good if some good players are willing to take a pay-cut for the long run IMO

Mr. Illitch has the dough to pay big checks. He has just chosen not to open the checkbook. When the core of youth is there, I think the checkbook opens. It's still years away.

Illitch would just have to buy too many players right now...one or two high priced free agents wouldn't really help (see Gonzalez when he was in Detroit). He will pay for them, just needs to see more of a future. I agree though, it would have been good for Young to move to another team, he's a legit talent being wasted here right now
