    Re: Barry, Gimme a Break.

Well it looks like Barry can dish it out, but can't take it. This is one of my problems with Barry. He thinks there are different sets of rules for him and everyone else.

How is it different when Barry blasts a shot and stands at homeplate admiring it (showing up the pitcher) and when Zambrano got over excitable after getting Barry out and Barry cried about it. Grow up Barry and get over yourself. Neither instance is right IMO, but for Barry to admire his HR's and then cry about a guy who got pumped up because he got Barry out is like "the pot calling the kettle black"...

Bonds is awesome and he has no right to say something about Zambrano when he admires his shots and then kisses his kid at home plate. He makes the biggest spectacle so I agree with everything you said. What a joke!

I will say I respect pitchers of today instead of hitters. The game is built for the sluggers. Ballparks are smaller than my backyard. Baseball are more lively and harder than ever. They are finally getting back to calling the actual strike zone and hitters whine about it. Their careers are normally shorter than position players. I am a pitching fan. So I usually side with them in the case of show boating. I like pitching so much more that I wish they would bring back the Astrodome!! I can't believe I just said that.

                  First off...let's clarify.

This was a very important game for the Cubs. We needed to win. The bases were loaded, and Barry was up. Ok...this is a story book style situation....The most polific hitter in baseball facing a Super Young pitcher with bases loaded.
Zambrano has to pitch to him, he does, and gets him out on a little flip back to him.

Zambrano pumped his fist, slammed the ball into his mitt. Then proceed to walk off the mound, he hit his chest, then AFTER HE CROSSED THE THIRD BASE LINE, lobbed the ball into the seat.

He did not throw it from the mound. I watched the game, and I got nervous when Barry came up, I jumped up and yelled in exitement when he nabbed it out of the air. And I wasn't even there, I can comletely understand how and why Zambrano did what he did. Barry...well....Barry is only as dangerous as he is because of his body armor.

What respect does Bonds deserve? For disrespecting Babe Ruth so much like he did at the All-Star game of all places? Bonds thinks he is such a god and deserves whatever he wants. He's lost my tiny bit of respect I had for him.

Of course I am biased being a Cubs fan, but I thought Zambrano's reaction was purely emotional, he pitched himself into a jam had to challenge the best hitter in baseball and got him to weakly line out to the pitcher, he was excited which is nothing new for him, sure he is going to piss some people off, but I can't see how getting pumped up about yourself is showing someone up.

I don't really have a problem with the guys admiring their home runs, what's the big deal, stop complaining and settle it on the field. I think it makes baseball more interesting when you have different personalities, it would be pretty boring if everyone was like Greg Maddux or Fred McGriff.
