    Mariners Offense = Oxymoron

Ok let me just start by saying that I fully endorse the use of steroids, HGH, tranquilizers, meth, or anything that will help this team hit the ball. It is God awful to watch at times. Especially when we have the best 1-2 punch in the rotation in all of baseball, as well as the best defensive CF (Gutierrez) , and RF (Ichiro) in baseball, and one of the best defensive SS (Wilson), and 2B (Figgins). Yet the only ones that are actually hitting are Gutti, and Ichiro. As a fan I can not stand a 1 or 2 run deficit being insurmountable. If we had the Rangers offense we would be the best team in baseball. Just sickening.

When the opposing pitcher sees our lineup card they must just laugh at the notion of facing it. At what point does Cliff Lee and Felix ask the manager if they can hit? They should definitely sue someone for emotional distress though. Jack Z should trade for Jack Cust.

They are hitting .231 as a team (only the White Sox and Astros are worse) and have a team OPS of .647 (only the Astros are worse) with 20 HR (only the Astros have less) and have scored 121 runs (only the Astros have less) through 37 games.

That is really bad, but at least you're not the Astros!

And give me Lincecum/Cain over Hernandez/Lee as well.

Carpenter/Wainwright are also right there as well so I'd say calling Hernandez/Lee the best 1-2 punch in all of baseball is stretching it just a little bit. It's arguable, sure, but they are far from the clear cut best.

Well put it this way Lincecum should be a Mariner, and he would be had it not been for our brain dead GM at the time taking Morrow over him. Also Cain is not better then either Felix or Lee. But it is un-argueably the best RHP/LHP combo at the front end of any rotation in baseball. Name me a team that has a lefty / righty 1-2 punch that is better. I would love to see Adrian Gonzalaz in a Mariners uniform next season. Or even Pujols if he hits free agency.

Our lineup would be fine if he had any sort of hitting from the catching position... and LF... and 3B... and SS... and 2B... and LF... and DH...

What a waste of good pitching there in Seattle.

As for best 1/2 punch. Hamels is looking better and better, and Halladay is well...arguably the best in the game.

No Halladay/Hamels love for best 1/2?

Halladay of course, but Hamels needs to get his act together instead of hovering around 100 ERA+ this year and last year. Great 1/2 tandem, but if Hamels can pitch like he did in 2008, I really think it's no contest.

What really ticks me off is when we actually score 4 or 5 runs, we give up 6 or 8. Then when we hold the other team to 2 runs we struggle to even score 1. Very frustrating at times.

Houston is last in the majors in hits, runs, doubles, total bases, RBIs, batting average, walks, on-base percentage and slugging.

Well considering the park they play in the Astros should never be last in power categories.

How bad would the 'Stros suck if they played in Safeco omg. Is Brad Mills on the hot seat yet?

It is weird not seeing the Padres "leading" in this categories, although they are still a hop and a skip away from these honors.

Okay, if it wasn't so sad it'd be funny. On a double to left it looks like Kotchman would score easily...but wait...this is the Mariners. Rob Johnson gets thrown out going to 3rd BEFORE Kotchman crossed the plate to end the inning and erase the run. Incompetence!

I don't know what's worse, that or being a fan of the Brewers and having a four run lead feel like it's not going to hold up.

I'm surprised that a team this anemic on offense doesn't try to create movement when they have a runner on 1st. I mean they can't hit for beans but they don't even try to get the pitcher's attention by attempting to steal bases. Heck they don't even have to try and steal 2nd they could just move around at 1st to distract the pitcher and create a hole in the defensive alignment.

Very unimaginative offense in many ways.

The Mariners are playing way under what is and has been expected from them this year. I hope that they soon turn it around and play up to the potential we all say prior to spring and spring training.
