I agree... He's extremely talented, but this won't be the first person to mow down the Pirates lineup. It's one of the worst in the majors for a reason.

I've already seen some asking if Harper will be up at the MLB level this year?!?! Hell, Harper probably won't make it next year or the year after, let alone this year.

The hype for some of these guys is too much. Same went for Heyward when he made his debut. People were saying that seeing his first HR live was something they'd tell their kids and grandkids. Let's pull the reigns in a bit before talking like some of these players are the next coming.

This 2 seamer is the filthiest fastball i've seen in a long time.

Whoever this announcer is, someone needs to tell him he has the two-seamer and four-seamer.

            Just. Not. Fair.

...and having a HOF Catcher call your first game probably doesn't hurt either.

The last time I saw a curveball this filthy was Kerry Wood when he first broke into the league. Anyone else remember the 20K game he had against the Astro's? That curve was breaking from one batter's box to the other. Of course that was a big part of the reason he had to have TJ surgery.

He reminds me of the cheap pitchers I used to make in MVP or MLB2k in order to **** around and go for perfect games throwing only breaking balls with.

Totally agree, unless it is a Giants player. Then all bets are off.

Yes I rememeber it very well! That kid was bad too. Good call on that one.

I completely agree, although I think Strasburg's breaks more down and out of the zone. Kerry Wood had more of sweeping action on his breaking ball. Apt comparison regardless.

Speaking of the Pirates, when are they going to call up Pedro Alvarez?

Sure, it could've been like Peavy who made his major league debut against the Yankees, but what can you do? If anything, blame the major league system for the arbitration stuff that teams want to avoid.

Plus, I think Heyward has the same ridiculous hype too.

In any case, another punch out, way to come from behind Strasburg.
Like I said Rag the kid is a stud no doubt, as is Heyward in my opinion. I guess what i was trying to convey is that it seems everything is way overhyped on these young guys these days. I mean let's give him a season or two before Cooperstown talk. Having said that, I'm switching to the game on MLB extra innings because Costas is getting on my nerves lol.

                                Second inning fastball speeds:

                                98, 99, 97, 99, 99, 99, 100, 99, 100, 97, 97, 99

                                Sick stuff!
