Re: June 7th - June 13th MLB Discussion (week 10)

    Fourth inning fastball speeds:

    96, 96, 95, 97, 97, 97, 96, 96, 98

Seems like he loses a bit when pitching out of the stretch.

You know...it's funny because I'm looking at a Nat's board and they're all freaking out now. How are some fans this stupid? They just can't possibly believe that Strasburg gave up a HR to a bum like Young. It's like they expected a shutout with 10+K's and anything less is unacceptable.

He would've never given up that home run if he were pitching at PETCO for the Padres.

Once again, thanks a lot John Moores

Yep, the kid is throwing gas up there he is going to be a beast for a long time. People are stupid. This is the bigs the hitters (even if they are the Pirates) are still tough to face.

Those are the kind of folks that annoy me to no end. They don't understand baseball...they make comments like "How can this guy be any good...he keeps swinging and missing" or "this dude just gave up a hit, I thought he was good".

The thing is he stuff is nasty. Wait until he learns how to really pitch. Then you are going to see a pitcher. Especially when he doesn't have his good stuff. I would think he will take the Tim Linecum route and take some off his pitches to stay in the game longer. But still the kid is nasty!

I am impressed with his control...still no walks.

Which is surprising consideringhow much he was missing in the first two innings.

Edit: This ump has had a consistent, tight strike zone. He has not been calling the low strike all game.

You could tell he was gripping the ball just a bit to tight...really pumped up early on.

Another punch out. Good start so far for Strasburg.

Edit: Meanwhile, the Padres have brought PETCO with them to New York, currently 1-0.

CITI Field isn't that much better than PETCO...

The 90% of DC fans. It's 100 time worse once football season starts. But I like what I'm seeing so far and am getting real excited about baseball for the first time in almost 10 years.

Word is Strasburg and Harper were talking it up earlier in the day and they were tossing it back and forth during the day.
