    Re: Albert Belle

Not every player who plays the game is going to make it to the hall, thats just the way it is, Belle was a punk on and off the field, the hall of fame voters commitee probably recognize that,
and if your going to base simply off of power numbers, then why not Kevin Mitchell, 234 HRS, or Rob Deer, 230 HRS, how about Mickey Tettleton, 245 HRS, each of these players have more home runs then Puckett do they deserve to be in the hall?

That's why Kirby going in opens up the floodgates to discussions like these..Now we will talk about how Edgar Martinez should get consideration...

And please don't tell me about how he conducted himself off the field cause the voters could care less about that!

doesn't the name mean something in hall of fame voting?

            I mean people are saying Palmeiro (514hrs 1654 rbi 2733 hits 535 doubles) shouldn't be inducted(mostly because he's played on a crappy team and he's a low-key guy) but he's been a fantastic player.

Kirby was good AND he was a top name player.

Belle was pretty good but he wasn't a star. Because his numbers aren't outstanding that will hurt him.

            anyway I voted no.

I just don't think Belle played long enough to make the hall.

Championships do, and should, make a difference in HOF.

Now, of coarse some guys don't get a ring and should go anyways while other's do get a ring but don't belong in the Hall.

That being said, if he wasn't the leader of 2 championship teams, I'm not sure Puckett would get in either.

Belle wasn't the leader of anything except the association of over-rated selfish players who cork their bats.

Puckett got in because he was loved by the media and since his career was shortened by the eye problem, people looked at what he did in his shortened career.

Belles numbers for the amount of time he played are pretty impressive, injuries ended his career, not lack of production, same with Puckett and Tony Oliva, but Puckett was the most popular of these guys so he got in. It will be interesting to me there was a 5 year stretch that Belle was the most dangerous hitter in baseball. I am not sure if that qualifies him as an HOFer, but you shouldn't disqualify him just cause you don't like him,
