The Tigers have had a history of collapsing down the stretch and the Sox have much better pitching than the Tigers, even with Peavy done for the year. The Sox also have the advantage of being able to make a move before the deadline. Whereas the Tigers, with the economy being what it is in Detroit, I think are not as likely to make a significant deal before the end of July.
Yeah this is pretty much how it's gone for the Tigers in recent years. You probly have to worry more about the Twins than us. I'm hoping the Tigers can swing a deal with Arizona for Haren or Drew (or both), but from the looks of things Arizona actually won't be very active

One of the best pitchers duels all year.

If he is perfect through 9, do you leave Wood in for the 10th?

I would. No way I take the opportunity away from him. May never get this moment again.

EDIT: Well its a moot point now.

Well, doesn't matter now. Ruiz ended that. He goes into the 9th perfect and may end up getting the loss.

makes you wonder if he was somewhat overwhelmed with the thought that he would have to be perfect for at least two more innings, since the Reds didn't score in the Top of the 9th.

Why are the Reds pitching to Ibanez? I understand its a lefty/lefty matchup, and that J-Rol is tough to double up, but why not give yourself the opportunity to get out of the inning with one pitch, vs giving the Phils 2 opportunities to drive home the winning run?

                I would've put Ibanez on.

True. Maybe you take a little different approach with run support. Knowing that even if you escape the 9th, you'd have to go a 10th puts a little more pressure.

2 on with 2 out, and Jon Jay watched strike 3 go by to end the game. SMH Astros 4 Cardinals 1.

                      Come on Phillies!

Mike Stanton just hit his 5th HR of the season. Has 3 homers in his last 5 games, really starting to adjust after initially struggling like he has in every promotion through the minors cause he's been hitting a lot of breaking balls and isnt as late on fastballs

I'll answer this for him. He's a Yankees fan. But, since he and/or his mom lived in Newport, KY, at one point, he has a soft spot for the Redlegs. How did I do, Tyler?
