It was while he was managing. BTW thanks for the record rsox. It still reeks of a PR move to me if they go and do that.

If this is true, I can't believe MLB will reinstate Pete Rose back into the game, if he admits to gambling on his games. If he admits it, what purpose will that have other than that he was lying to everyone all these years?
I know the fans want him in the HOF, but come on! The fact is, he broke a cardinal rule!
" I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "

We wouldn't be in this miss if Bart Giamati (sp) didn't change his mind. IIRC the original agreement was that Rose would be banned from the game for a few years and Rose would admit to the gambling in writing. Giamati however turned his back on Rose and made it a lifetime ban even tho there was an agreement to lift the ban after a year or so because Rose admitted to it in writing.

i'm for him getting into the HOF, but definitely against managing again, especially since he still is a compulsive gambler

                              I agree, the whole
'if you just admit it we'll forgive you' thing is stupid.

That's like calling up the girl who dumped you 10 years ago and saying, "Okay, I was banging your roommate. Can we get back together?" "C'mon, I was on your all-century team!"
