I think people forget this. He went to LF to help the team out and in the process tore up his legs. During the time he played LF he also saw his numbers slip, a product of learning/playing a new position that took a toll on his body. If he had remained at 3B his entire career his numbers would be even better imo.

Jones Not Done; Will Attempt Comeback After Surgery

Won't retire until he goes through the rehab and sees if he can play next season or not.

Hopefully he makes it back full strength and can go out under his own terms.

Either way....I don't know. I'm still at a loss for words.
You really watch about 100% of all his games played? I mean even 90%, I have a hard time believing, what about days games? Did you miss work to watch him play on TV. I being serious too, in all reality how much of a percentage to you think you seen Chipper play? When Clark was a Giants I think I seen probably about 70% of all his games.

Okay maybe not then. I watched all the TBS era most every game they aired (I was a kid back then, what would I have to do?), I watch a ton of the nationally televised game since (ended up being a rarity the last few years), I had MLB.TV for like 2 years before I gave up on it this year, but this year I've found another way to watch...so yeah, I've watched a ****load. When I'm at work, I just pop the MLB.TV or the other way up and check the game out when there's some downtime. The only time I don't watch is if I have to go out to a party or other event or whatever...

Too bad I don't live in Atlanta, I'd TiVo the games so I don't join in progress like I had to do tonight.

I am sure you have watch a lot of Chipper's game, but what do you think the percentage is? I am curious if you have an idea what it would be.

Well, consider that TBS didn't show EVERY game. I think at the height, they only showed like 135 out of 162.

I'm not sure, if I had to throw out a number I'd say I've seen at least a portion of 70% of the games? I'm not sure, lol.

I remember watching Clark a lot, but some games weren't on TV, you had to buy the home game package deal back in the day. Called Giants vision and then it was called sport channel after that. It sucked, but my friend bought it at his house, so we watch it a lot with his dad back in high school.

Re: Chipper Jones Done For Year, Likely Career

Watching Mike and Mike In The Morning on ESPN 2, and Erik Kuselias & Tim Kurkjian are in for Greeny & Golic.

The discussion came up about Chipper possibly being done and whether or not he's a first ballot Hall of Famer, eventual Hall of Famer, or not a Hall of Famer.

Kurkjian (like me) thinks Chipper is a hands down, first ballot Hall of Famer.

Kuselias, on the other hand, said he thinks he's "AT BEST a down the line, borderline Hall of Famer."

Maybe I'm biased because I've been privileged to see over 100 times since I really got interested in baseball in 1998, since I live in SC, but seriously? You can't claim to be a "sports expert" or even "fan" and not think this guy's a Hall of Famer.

Kuselias' argument is that "he was never a dominant player, he only made 6 All-Star games, and he only finished in the top 3 of MVP voting once (the year he won it)."

A career .306 average (if I'm correct, highest all-time by switch hitter), 436 homers (3rd most by a switch hitter), 10 seasons of .300 or higher average, .536 career slugging %, a tremendous fielder.

and he was the cornerstone of a Braves team that won 14 straight division titles. (not for the first few years in that run, but still)

Keep in mind that Kuselias is ESPN's poor man Skip Bayless so you are bound to hear things like that. Actually i kind of wonder if Bayless thinks Chipper is a HoF'r or not (morbid curiosity i guess).

I don't know, Kuselias isn't near as bad as Bayless or Cowherd.

Cowherd to me is the worst. Bayless at least knows what he's talking about. He just makes absurd statements. Cowherd is a total *******.
