That's the absolute worst part. Awards are annouced in early-mid November, when the season is over and nobody cares. Horrible decision, IMO.

I know they don't want to take away anything from the playoffs, but somehow they are able to get these announced in the NBA and NFL in a timely manner without it being a big deal and when people still care.

Maybe they could boost World Series ratings by making post season awards annoucements prior the first four games (Gold Gloves and Silver Sluggers - Game 1, MOTY and ROTY - Game 2, Cy Young - Game 3 and MVP - Game 4). I get that it takes a little away from the WS, but at least it gets the winners a chance to receive their award with some well deserved notariety.

The awards are voted on before the playoffs start so that the playoffs would have no bearing on the decision making by the voters. So Realseahawkfan (that's a mouthfull) is correct.
