If you would like to see for your self. Pujols has Bonds beat plain and simple.

Um, I'd like to know what stats you're looking at, because from what I can tell Bonds has Pujols beaten in every important category: OBP, slugging, and of course OPS because of OBP and slugging. I'm assuming that you're talking about RBIs, runs, hits, average.. these are meaningless statistics because they're situational.

Pujols has as much of a chance at the MVP as Sheffield.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Ok. Let me get this straight.
AVG, runs, and hits are situational. Please explain.
A hit is a hit, and a run is a run. I mean you won't get a run easy. Nobody is going to walk a guy when the base is loaded. Runs% on PB's are low. It doesn't matter what the situation is, and hitting more increases your average. Perhaps we should throw them out because they're not "important" when evaluating a player.

Now I personally think Runs are just as important as any other stat. You need to score some runs.

You disregard hits, runs, RBI, average, yet you acknowledge SLG and OBP. SLG = you have to get a hit. The more TBs, the better. But how can that be? You said a hit is meaningless.
Next is OBP. You have to get on base in some possible way. Which this case brings up the hits, and AVG once again, and runs. You have to get on base to score a run. I feel it's pointless to get on base, if you're not going to come around to score. I don't think it makes that big of a difference to a pitcher when he's focused.

" I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "
    - Lavar Arrington on his new Redskins teammate Sean Taylor.

Re: Barry Bonds clinches the MVP

This thread is becoming painful. This thread is the very reason you have to look beyond the statistics a little to determine an MVP. You can choke and spit on the stats and the meaning of stats and the advantages and all that all night, but for me you have to consider the teams record and what that player means to the team...

after the Braves, who have many players enjoying great seasons, the Giants have the best record in the NL. No one is as important to the Giants as Bonds. I don't think there's a player in the game who's team would suffer as much as the Giants would if Bonds' is out. Just look what happened this last week. Bonds is the most valuable player.

Pujols has Edmonds, Rolen and Renteria in the line-up with him. Bonds' has virtually no one. He is the MVP. In fact, he is the DEFINITION of an MVP.

If you guys are watching the Giants game, you'll see in Bonds's last AB how Horacio Ramirez threw around Bonds after he saw his mighty cut fouled back... yet ANOTHER chance where Bonds could've done something... but he HAD to be unintentionally intentionally walked. There were runners on first and second... adding onto his walks with RISP.

No, Bonds is the DEFINITION of an a-hole.

But hey, that's a whole other topic..

Innane? I didn't know that was a word

Opinions are opinions. I have mine and you have yours.

Nobody is ever going to share the same opinion on a certain topic. Get used to it dude.

This is why I hate sharing my opinion with Giants and Yankees fans. Once you establish how you feel about a certain topic, it's like a mob of people run after you
