    Aroldis Chapman: Human or Cyborg?

Someone had to ask, so I'm asking it. Seriously 104 MPH? I didn't know that was humanly possible, as I've only topped out at 86 on the gun my self, and was considered the Ace of my HS staff. Regardless, he has to be some kind of government experiment. If this keeps up The Show will have to change their ratings scale. All I can say is that I wish he was on the Mariners. A rotation next year of King Felix, *Michael Piñeda, and Aroldis Chapman, would be deadly. Who needs offense anyways?

*6'-8" RHP who throws 98 MPH, and according to BA is the top rated pitching prospect -- still in the minors -- in baseball...

    Cyborg. That is all.

Been following him all year, and am glad that he's a part of the Reds future. Absolutely amazing stuff. And the fact that he can pull that nasty slider of his at will... Just brutal.

I was gonna mention Joel Zumaya as a guy who has hit 104 mph... but when I finally saw the clips I realized he hit 104 twice in the same at bat against Griffey and the 2nd time Junior smashed it for a Salami oh well here it is anyway:

Uh, Nolan Ryan regularly hit 104 in the early '70s with the Angels.

Anyone know what the record for the fastest pitch ever thrown is? Can't imagen it's much higher then 104. But it's not every day you see someone throwing that hard. The only ones I can think of are Nolan Ryan, and Joel Zumaya, earlier in his career before he started having arm / shoulder problems. Also, Randy Johnson probably got it up that high on occasion early in his career, when batters had to get insurrance waivers in order to face him.

There were guys hitting 105 back in the day. While it is cool let's not act like no one has ever thrown that hard before. Nolan was around 104 a lot and so was Vida Blue he throw in the 102 a lot.

I am happy for the Reds fans. Your team has been so bad for so long, it is nice to see them winning. Now I am hoping the Pirates can do the same thing. I loved the Reds when they had the nasty boys. Even though I was Giants fan and they were in our division and Chis Sabo and Paul O'Neil owned us!

I'm going to have to say cyborg. Ryan and Zumaya are older versions of the software.

Love the thread title....and I voted for Cyborg.

Not only does he throw 104 but when paired with that slider that looks unhittable? Just unfair.

I second the sentiment of being happy for Reds fans, not just for having a cyborg on your team but the year the team is having overall.

Human. Because unlike a cyborg, his arm will eventually fall off.

I would think it would be the other way around since I have never heard of a human arm just falling off. Granted I watched Tom Browning's arm break in half might pitch, which was horrific, but it still didn't fall off
