Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Yankees acquired pitcher Felix Heredia off waivers from Cincinnati on Monday.
The lefthander made a team-leading 57 relief appearances this season for the Reds. He has been particularly effective in his last 22 games, posting a 2.38 earned run average, while opposing batters hit .205.
Heredia struck out five Yankees in three innings for Cincinnati on June 5.
In eight big league seasons, the 28-year-old has appeared in 449 games with Florida, the Chicago Cubs, Toronto and the Reds and held left-handed hitters to a .220 average.

Bye bye Orosco?

I can understand why you guys want to get rid of Orosco. Let me guess, he blew a couple of leads for you guys already, huh? Been like that this whole year, especially when he was with the Padres.

The first day he got work, he was great. Came in late in the game with the bases loaded and struck out Damon to hold the lead. After that, he's been subpar and lately hasn't been getting the job done. All he has to do is get 1 lefty out in the game. Is that so difficult to do?" I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "
