Re: 2010 World Series: Texas Rangers vs San Francisco Giants

Another thing, it's fine to say it's not over yet, and yes Texas could possibly win 3 at home, but what have you seen so far that gives you any confidence that they can shut down the Giants?

Texas was basically given game one by all the experts because of Lee and he lost. He's only going to pitch one more game. Wilson now has a blister so how can you be confident he'll be sharp if he makes another start?

Where is the pitching depth that's going to shut down a very confident Giants team? The Texas bullpen has done nothing in two games and the Giants bullpen, outside of the end of game one, has been pretty much lights out throughout the post season.

The Giants beat Lowe, Hudson, Halliday, Oswalt (in relief) Hammels, Lee and Wilson. Who has Texas beaten? Price twice, Hughes twice, an aging Petit. Not quite the same.

It may not be over, but I really don't like Texas' chances having to win 4 out of 5 by beating Lincecum, Cain and possibly Sanchez twice.

While I am very happy so far with how the World Series has gone, I will not be excited until the last out of win #4. The Rangers are a great team with an explosive offense who are now goin home against two lefties with a right handed lineup in a hitters park and then Lee in the third home game. This series is FAR from over.

I am just messing with you and no I didn't. I said the Giants big three was better. But I am a Giants fan.

It is not over, but it might be close. If the rebounds at home we shall see. I think the Giants will take two at Texas and it will be the torture games we are used too.

Good! I would gladly spend a night in jail to throw a punch at him.

Geez, who would have thought that this was gonna happen. The Giants are making it look easy. I'm sure, by now, they are sick of all the naysayers in the media and on talk radio saying how they don't stand a chance against the mighty "Team X" that they have to face. That's what makes baseball great.

As for Texas, not much to claw or antler about, huh? By far, the worst team gimmick since the rally monkey. I'm just glad TBS's coverage is over so we don't have to hear about what the symbols mean every 3 innings. Of course, against the Yankees, they had a ton to claw about.

It may be close at Texas, but I dont think so.

Giants are just doing Everthing right.

Does the '96 WS have any affect on these feelings?

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

However Sanchez is one of the few that's just as good no matter what the opposing line up is.

I guess I'm going to sound like a homer when I say this, but I really think there is a good chance the Rangers win 2 of 3 in Arlington, and if things go right they win all 3 in their home park.

Someone asked what have we seen to suggest that the Rangers can beat the Giants. The honest truth is so far nothing. We have seen bits and pieces from each game that shows the Rangers have the talent to get the job done, but we haven't seen the whole thing put together. Fact of the matter is we can't "Out giants the Giants" meaning we can't outpitch you guys and hope to win a 1-0 nailbiter. The only way we can win is if we hold you down defensively, and score +5. That's been our approach all offseason and we got to get back to getting the full team in for a win. 1 guy can't win it, as we've seen twice now.

This series reminds me of the ALDS in which the first two games Texas got every good break, every questionable call, and destroyed the mojo of Tampa Bay's top pitcher in the opening game. But then games 3 and 4 hit and it wasn't that Tampa just started to play a different brand of baseball, or Texas didn't know how to close them out...

Tampa simply began to get the breaks they hadn't been getting. Balls that were getting scooped up started flaring down the line and next thing we knew the series was tied.

I'm not taking anything away from the giants, they are having to go out there and play the game that's given to them, but they have gotten EVERY break this series so far. Uribe and Renteria have played excellent defense (almost shutdown corner like defense) on the left side.

Rangers balls being hit and not clearing the wall... Giants hits that are falling in just above fielders heads, just beyond fielders gloves and so on and so forth.

Rangers are also not playing aggressively because I guess baserunners have been so hard to come by that they have not dared to risk them against Buster Posey. That's key right there.

The Cody Ross play, (which was another big break for the Giants that he kept it in front of him given the timing of the dive) Michael Young would have been on 3rd in the prior series just because they were running with aggressive reckless abandon, but so far in this series, people have been playing tentatively on the basepaths and at the plate. (such as in the past series swinging 3-0, 3-1 and in this series trying to draw walks)

Other than the one mistake pitch by Wilson, that game should have been 1-0 Rangers, or 0-0 at the worse. but that's what makes this a game played on the field. I won't make excuses.

What I do want to see is what happens if Texas begans to catch the breaks that Giants have been getting. They don't have to catch them all, in a complete role reversal. I just want to see what happens if we catch just some of the breaks the Giants have been getting. This series could easily shift back to 2-2 quickly. That's why I can't wait for Saturday night, because all the questions will get answered in game 3. If Texas loses that game, then the Giants are going to win it all. If they lose, then Texas has a chance to gain some ground.

The thing that worries me is not winning 3 at home in Texas. This is all about holding serve so there should be no reason why a person can't believe that Texas will hold up their end of the bargain and shift it back to California. For me, It's winning 1 in SF. Right now that looks harder to do than the former.

It is baseball anything can happen. But I think this series is over. We beat your ace bad, we beat you in a slugfest, we beat you in a pitching duel and we beat your bullpen. To me that is pretty telling of this series. And we are playing good on the road. If the Giants win tomorrow they will sweep the Rangers. If you win we have a series again. We shall see what happen.
