It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

To bad for you man. I occasionally have some smart things to say. You're not the first person to slam me for liking Duke though lol.

I don't get this. Mariano is asking for more money and an extra year than what the Yankees want to give, is that all about A-Rod too? Every player tries to get the best contract that they can. It's simple. But for Jeter, people think there are all these reasons why Jeter is asking for more. Jeter has talked about wanting to own a team when his career is over. Maybe's he's trying to make as much money as he can for that.

I agree with that. That's why I said I'm sick of these players.

You want to think the best of Jeter I guess. I just feel like all these guys are the same.

That's pretty much exactly what I said. I don't think it's about getting the same contract as A-Rod, or getting a contract that proves he's a franchise player, or anything other reason people are giving. It's about getting the best contract he can.

              Re: Derek Jeter

I think the Yankees are looking at the performance they got out of Jeter in his walk year and are just trying to give him a fair deal based on that. IMO he's not even worth what they're offering him. In a way, this reminds me of the Brett Favre situation with Green Bay. Now before I get completely slammed, I'm not saying Jeter is in any way acting like Brett Favre. At all. I'm just saying that they are weighing a club legend against what he's worth on the field of play. Sometimes tough decisions need to be made. If Jeter keeps standing his ground, I think the Yankees just might make the decision to let him go see what's out there. I think Jeter will find that it's not what he's looking for.

Not the best comparison if you consider that Brett Favre basically held the Packers hostage for 3 or 4 offseasons of will he/won't he comeback? before they finally said enough is enough.

I wonder if the Yankees win the World Series this past year are we even having this discussion or is Jeter re-signed by now and all is right with the Yankee world?.

                  Re: Derek Jeter

Its an interesting situation. Jeter wont get a better deal from another team but wants a better one from the Yanks. Its pretty much who will budge first.

Like I said. I'm not claiming Jeter is acting like a diva as Favre was. I'm just saying that there hasn't been a situation like this other than the Favre/Packers situation in recent history. In both cases you have a club legend who helped bring the team back to past glory on the decline. In both situations the legend is asking for more than makes sense for the team's current situation. It will be interesting to see how the Yankees handle this.

One of the greatest comparisons is Babe Ruth. Just research it because every writer is covering the story after Jeter's agent Close compared his client to a modern day Ruth.

This isn't a new thing for the franchise. The Yankees know their history. They are one of the biggest brands in the world. Derek Jeter is just another great player that wore the uniform.

                            The Post is so dramatic.

Sometimes I want Jeter to play elsewhere just so the blind Jeter fans can see that his intangibles won't help a team win a championship.

Of course, I say this and that very team will win a championship.
