Tobin to the Rangers for cash.

Second time in the last 4 drafts that Cubs draft a player and then trade him to another team. That player eventually found his way to Texas as well, guy named Josh Hamilton.

And to think--Jim Hendry still has a job as a general manager of a MLB team...

Rodriguez could probably play SS for us, doesn't have much competition to beat out.

I have to laugh at JP Ricciardi (who I assume is handling that aspect of the Mets baseball ops) That's the kind of crap he did when he first came to Toronto, try and get anything from his former team.

He's using the Brad Childress strategy.

Does that mean Brett Favre will be the Mets 5th starter next season?.

No, he'll be the 6th man for the Heat from the reports I've heard.

Nope, it's a battle between Lito Sheppard and Hank Baskett.

Crap. Well, you'll have the opportunity to have him back if you so choose then, I hope.

These rule 5 drafts can be a bitch. David Herndon took up a spot on the 25 man roster when he should have been in the minors last year for the Phillies.

I read the name of the 3 players that the Twins lost in the draft and laughed to myself. A lot of bad players swapping teams. Of course I think the Twins got a pretty good lefty about 10 years ago from this draft.

Hmmm I'm not sure who you mean? Can you reiterate who that was? And was Josh Hamilton really taken in the rule 5 and traded for cash?

Back in the ol' days the Rule 5 Draft was a goldmine for overlooked talent. Pat Gillick (who's now going in the HOF!) made a living off of it in the early to mid '80s.
