If there is 2 outs, runner on 2nd, 9th inning, game 7....Albert Pujols is going to drive that run in more often that Adam Everett. It's just the way it is.

I'll bet he gets walked more often than not.

Two outs so the runner is going to be moving which means I only need a single to score the run. Who has the best the chance of delivering a single for you?

Ichiro, Tony Gwynn, Derek Jeter, Wade Boggs, and Rod Carew.

Probably the guy I would want up there though would be George Brett.

One might laugh but I say that I would want (In his prime) Harold Baines. Talk about clutch, he's one of the most underrated clutch hitters in recent memory.

As for now, I say Pujols.

His career splits (like most players) suggest that he wasn't really any better in "clutch" situations than he was in any other spot.

Question: who IS statistically the best "clutch" hitter of all time?

About 7 years ago, I'd take Barry Bonds. Your guaranteed a walk in that situation with him at the plate.

I'm sure there's someone who had 1-2 ABs in the 9th inning and hit a HR and a double.

Kirk Gibson: 2 outs, bottom of the 9th, down by a run with a runner on 2nd. HR, game over!
